Can people hear themselves?

Being tired means you van't last a full 90 minutes, you cant make that burst of energy to get up or down the pitch at times. It doesnt mean you can only pass side ways or backwards, not able to get a cross into the box or get a corner or set piece past the first man.

And for people saying he's only young, then why hasnt wiltshire tired or Ramires or even people like Giggs who is 38 or something??

He ain't good enough, period.

The expectation of Henderson is the only problem.

It's only his second full season in arguably the best league in the world and when he hasn't come up to scratch he's been vilified. By his own fans.

I think he'll get better with time.

He probably needs a rest from mental fatigue if nothing else.

Tired mentally ffs as well as maybe physically, how many times?

Every decent young player known to man has had a spell where they've had to be rested, because they always need it at some point. Henderson at 20 hasn't been able to, he's been needed and played more than anyone else.

As for Wiltshire and Ramires, well both have played a lot, but they're in sides who can carry them, whereas Henderson is trying to carry a side in dire form and they've also been rested on occasions, not starting week in week out and haven't started as many Premiership games this season as Henderson, Ramires is also 24 and a lot further into his pro career.

He's a bairn man, do you really expect him to carry the side at his age? Look how long it took a character like Bally to rise to the challenge.
Problem is times have changed.

There was a time when young players could bed in gradually, could even be carried a bit while they gained experience.
Nowadays they have to go straight into a team of off the peg internationals and play against teams chock full of off the peg internationals. There just isn't time for the learning curve. Anyone considered first team squad tends not to play in the reserves nowadays therefore it's a big drop down so they really have to hit the ground running.
It's a lot of pressure and a bit unfair on the young uns but that's the way it is and if they aren't justifying their place as I don't think Henderson is doing at the moment it's just a matter of for how long we can afford to persist.

I dont disagree with most of that, I just think that due to how weak the squad is we've had no choice to play him in the middle part of the season, when ideally he should have been rested. For me there's been too much responsibility placed upon him, it's not a question of ability.

Fair points and I agree with just about everything you've said, in terms of his contribution he should have been dropped/rested weeks ago. I still feel the expectations surrounding him are unreasonable given his age.

Too much pressure on our kids, end result we import shedloads of distinctly average off the peg foreigners?

Take the 'ob' out of your name and you have a winner

He's a decent player but not great. I really don't get the hype. He can't take a free kick or corner and doesn't score enough goals - he always seems more eager to pass than actually shoot.

He's very good at keeping the ball and making tidy short passes and I do think he would make a good holding midfielder.

Henderson will be a decent player. He's one of the few we have who looks up and thinks about what he's doing, maybe too much at the moment.
He needs to be coming off the bench with a bit less pressure on him.

The lad is shot to bits through constantly being played out of his natural position (wide right).

His performances will not change until he returns to the right.

in the long term, this season will stand him in good stead for his career, thats if our 'fans' don't destroy him

Considering hes a young sunderland supporter id say theres a very good chance he comes on here like

i hope no one from the playing staff comes on here; they'd be mortified within a few minutes

if they do; most of these morons don't represent the true fans, we don't all want you all sacked after every defeat

So why does he claim that he's a central midfielder and thinks he plays better there  ??

his natural position is centre midfield but he's been playing the holding role due to cattermole's injury. when given more licence to get forward he will flourish

Why does Henderson have to "carry us", dont talk utter garbage. Thats what you captain is for, or other leaders such as Mensah.

And, Wiltshire has been rested a few times, but the same age, playing in the Fa cup and league cup for longer. And as for them getting resting, Henderson has been playing once every 2 weeks for the past month, so what the hell are on about.

Can't peeople just say he is an average player, if that, and lets move on. HE WILL NEVER MAKE IT.
