Is it not burn out that causes a player not to be able to cross a ball when in acres of space or unable to pass to his own player - just a poor technique.

He just got lucky with all the good things he did last season and in the start of this then?

rooney, giggs, etc, etc don't need a rest, henderson has got the potential but we can't wait forever for him to come good on a consistent basis, a more settled midfield would probably help him, but he has to start proving himself, it would be hard to turn down a big bid

It's not physical burn out, he's clearly suffering mentally though. Just needs a rest.

I have no idea where people pull this from? I think he's playing in a side with too many weak links, making him a "senior player" in a way when he is nowhere near that level. I could be wrong but it can't be good playing alongside some of our team at times. No excuses for the lad though, he's been poor of late.

answer the question ,

He was playing well at the start of the season for us and for the under 21s and fully deserved his call up. He is not however a holding midfielder and the pressure of playing out of position while Cattermole and Meyler were out injured in such a disciplined position has clearly took it's toll.

The lad needs taking out of the firing line for a bit, anyone who thinks it's due to poor technique is an idiot.

while stats show he keeps possesion and almost all of his passes go to a team mate and also has a good number of assists.
apart from that you are spot on.
Oh and we also need to forget he has been playing moe defensive wih cattermole missing.

So not being able to pass the ball to his own player, cross the ball, beat a man and take decent corners/freekicks is all down to mental fatigue -Do me a favour

He's 20, he's the only player been available for the full season, he's clearly a very very good player, couple of games rest and he'll be back sharper.

Aye that's what happens when you're tired mentally, you make the wrong decisions and second guess yourself instead of playing your normal game. The longer it goes on the more your confidence drains and the more things go against you.

Has as many assists this season as Adam Johnson.

Not that impressive given that he has played in all our games and Johnson has started about 4 for Manchester City. So johnson has the same amount of assists from about a fifth of the games
