Hemir

Not really true, he had a bit of a decent rep when we signed him, a good physique and he's shown he has a rocket of a shot. His attitude is just terrible, he's not prepared to work hard. I've seen him in the warm ups lagging at the back and barely being arsed to lift his knee high enough to perform the warm exercise - it was so unprofessional.
Was offered a long term contract by Brighton but turned them down for us - as you say his attitude is just shocking but must have had something about him while at Benfica. We move on!

I remember plenty on here slagging off Semenyo when we had him on loan on League 1.

I’m not saying that I think Hemir will have anything like the same meteoric rise - but I am making the point that judging a kid off a handful of games without any insight into what goes on Monday - Friday on the ground is ridiculous.

I can't really recally many actually slagging off Semenyo, comments were mixed. No one thought he'd have the meteoric rise he's had, he looked like a raw, pacey, skilful kid. Only one getting grief was Parkinson for not getting him on sooner, then starting him at wingback.

Benfica B, Mowbray,/Beale/Speakman/Dodds/ Le Bris, Juventus Next Gen, Morienese have all had a good look at Hemir and not fancied him, together with one or two comments about application - that might be your insight.

For me in his highlight video on arrival he looked like a big strong player against kids, who played a technical game. He was never one of the best at Benfica and wasn't a regular starter for Benfica B.

I think Us and Brighton have probably looked to take a gamble on being able to get him to adapt and use his potential physique given the small outlay on him- a total punt. But to me the physical side of the game looks totally foreign to him and he doesn't appear to have the kind of determination or work ethic to make it his game. He'll end up in some 2nd tier foreign league- a bit of technical ability doesn't make a footballer.
