Help!

I went to see a night cricket match in around 1990/91 at Gateshead Stadium.
I remember definitely Peter Sleep playing. Possibly Brian Lara but I may be dreaming.
I can’t find any information on web about it and have no programme etc
Anyone there or can offer any information about the game? Cheers

A World XI (containing Sleep) played the West Indies (containing Lara) in August 1991, but game was at Scarborough. I also found a game in July 1991 at Darlington where Lara featured for West Indians playing a Minor Counties Xi.

Sleep also played for a Rest of World Xi v England in two games at Jesmond in both 1990 and 1991. Scorecards are behind paywall at .

This reminds me of a game at Ashbrooke around that time between a Pakistani and West Indies XIs in 1991 ish

ended in a tie iirc

Good seeing Ian Smith on those scorecards with good bowling figures. I played against him a lot in junior and club cricket and he was rapid for his age. Played a few years at Durham then Glamorgan IIRC.

Is that Jimmy Smith's brother?

I am 99% sure there was one. Astroturf used for the outfield covering the athletics track.

Well it was mentioned above, Durham v Pakistan. TBH I could’ve sworn Sleep played but my memory must be jiggered. I don’t remember the match at all! But i was there..
