I want to spend around 300 on an slr camera

i have a sony t90 at the mo and is just a compact but want something a bit meatier which does a lot more.

can somebody recommend one asap?

I would consider the Canon EOS1000D, if you have an interest in night time photography. Canons have a good reputation for low noise at long exposure.
