Hebburn Cricket Club

Hopefully they will find somewhere, but I agree I can't think of anywhere ready made off the top of my head. Not sure if any of the schools can provide the facilities they need? Although there would be no bar available.
There are a few sites that would suit but would all need significant investment to be able to hold a cricket match .
Only quick fix would be if the involve guys over in the old Lukes Lane community centre could accommodate them in some way.
It's sad in the fact the place was designed as the Sports and Rec Club for Reyrolles and very soon it will be just football based there. Bowls club are long gone iirc?

Bowls club still there and play 4 nights a week. For how long is another matter.

I am under the impression Reyrolles football club are being booted off as well to accomadate Hebburn Town reserves.

I have to say the improvements to the ground and bar area that the new owners have done is astonishing compared to what it was and they have to be applauded for that.

Just a shame the future plans dont fall under ECB rules.

I assume Hebburn CC may have had to resign from their league given the ECBs stance and the fact work on the improvements are likely to start during this season.

the cricket club have got in the way of the football club for many years, as I understand it, they alway seemed to have more of a say on the sports ground and get an unfair share of money etc from the previous owners.
But I'd much rather see the town have a sports team that is excelling rather than two that are just existing. /QUOTE]

One of the most ignorant posts I've ever read.

It's's a shame the football club didn't fold two years ago.

Amazing the cricket club never had an issue with the bowls, tennis or Reyrolles FC. Hebburn Town FC along with the new owners are the issue here it always has been going back 30 years. As for cricket always having more of a say / unfair split of money I've literally just spat my tea out.

I'm more than happy to be corrected, that is how I'd understood it, of course if that is incorrect then I apologise.
I hope the cricket club do find a new home as I'd hate to see the town lose a sports team entirely, hopefully Luke's Lane and what they are trying to acheive there will be a perfect new home for them.

It really is terrible the way football just pushes all other sports out if it's way. Especially when existing football clubs have been given the boot too. I believe something similar is on the cards at Wearmouth Colliery welfare. One of the oldest cricket grounds in Sunderland.
