Heating Engineer recommendations

Does anyone know a reliable heating engineer who would look at an Ideal Isar HE30 boiler? It's my dad's and the hot water to his shower is oscillating between hot and cold when turned on. He's partially sighted and has trouble sourcing this kind of thing. I've read online that they are the worst boilers around...

Did you get anywhere with all this then?

Failing pump is the principal cause of tripping out the electrics, it could be caused by the pump being worn out or damp getting in the electrics on it.

Looks like you were correct. Whatever happened caused a surge which blew the mother board (dont think that is the correct term for the main board) Not sure what caused the surge yet as there was no mother board in stock, so have to wait for that first before the diagnosis can be made. Been told its probably the pump or the fan or one more thing which I cannot remember.

Pain in the arse waiting circa a week for the main board then have to start again with the diagnosis. Will be pissed off if the parts are not in stock again for whatever the problem actually is and I have wait another week for that part. That is if the new engineer doesn't blow the main board again.

I can live with out the heating for a couple of weeks but the hot water is a right pain, especially in February.

Blocked plate heat exchanger will need cleaning or replacing.

Check the size of the fuse in the boilers main fused spur, should be no more than 3 amp, if there’s a 13 amp in that could cause the board to overload and blow. I’m not an ideal expert as I very rarely see them , we are Worcester specialists, there may be fuses on the board 1 amp or 2 amp which may have blown, but you’d have to be able to test for continuity to find out.
