Heading over to the Castle Douglas area tomorrow

for a day out. Havnt been over there since I was a kid. Can you recommend a decent place to visit? We are taking the dog, so looking for a nice beach area, and somewhere to grab a bite thats dog friendly.

Briefly visited Castle Douglas for food while staying in the area.
Not too far away is kirkcudbright, pretty little fishing village type of place. People are friendly a couple of decent pubs. Plenty of places to walk the dog along the water's edge, footpaths and beach in the area.

Mossyards Beach - just the other side of Gatehouse of Fleet - we used to go there when we were bairns (my Mam is from Kirkcudbright).

Nee one said it. Go through CD turn right at the clock 4/5 mile is the Ken bridge hotel. Great bait and dog friendly. Thank me later.
