Having to play a full back centre forward

Personally I think gelhardt is a No' 10 so won't stand up against two centre backs, we either have to adapt and play him with a make shift No' 9 (take ya pick between 09 or Alese) or we play a 433 and try and flood the box. Either way we have to change our system to make it work..Can I also mention not having a sitting DM makes us open to counter attack like we saw yesterday. If we can get those two things sorted we just might have a decent end of season..
This is a very good point about the sitting midfielder. We miss Evans a lot - I don’t think Michut and Neil can play as a 2.

if we chuck alese (dear god) or o'nien up top it means dropping one of clarke, roberts or diallo to do so. so for me that's a non starter. playing 4-3-3 means the same.

the early season 4-2-4 with gelhardt and diallo as false nines is perhaps the best option, but it is not going to be very different to what we're playing now. genuinely think pritchard and embleton offered more in those roles just because at least they had some positional awareness. you know what it reminds me of now? when we ha bendtner and sessegnon playing as forwards and both would drop deep to cross the ball into the box to.... nee fucker.

Good point about Bendtner/ sessegnon it used to boli my piss watching both of them taking up the same space. In reality we need to find a way to make it work from now until the end of the season..

Evans is a huge miss he kept us tight at the back but also organised the team as a whole..

i think the only way to do it is to entirely change the way we play. we made it work with bent up front on his own, and defoe... whilst he's nowhere near as good as either obviously, he plays a similar style as opposed to stewart. it's far from ideal having to change our style and philosphy completely, from a system that was working really well, but we've really no option.

gelhardt hasn't been ready to play at all, hopefully we can get him up to speed with the slight break in games we've got now from every 3 days.

Do you not start to bore yourself with the same old posts every time we lose?
I was also frustrated with the last transfer window, but what is the point of posting the same old shit for the 500th time?
When its smashed our season to bits I think its relevant. The entire board are discussing this. You may not like it but once we weakened the squad in the winter the die was cast. Its only going to get worse as the season progresses unless TM can pull a rabbit out of the hat. I suggest if you don't like this discussion you don't view half the board until we sign strikers (may be a very long time though). Oh and you may want to tell TM to stop talking about this too. He started yesterday and I expect his voice will get louder as the season goes on.

Listening to TM comments he did mention they've not really had a chance to work with the young lad on the training pitch much so now we've got Saturday to Saturday games coming up we might see an improvement..

Regardless to what anyone has said, to only have 1 striker at the club which is ours (currently injured) is an absolute joke.

i'm fine with people not wanting to drone on about it endlessly, but people who defend the club by saying there isn't a striker out there that we want, when we haven't signed one in fully 2 (TWO) years is kind of mind boggling.

The recruitment team have been absolutely first class.

They have, which is what makes not bringing more strikers in even more surprising. We’ve had some bad luck as well mind with Stewart picking up two medium to long term injuries and Lampard deciding he wanted Simms back before getting sacked himself, but that shouldn’t deflect from the poor planning on our side.

All this is perfectly true. Thankless task for a young lad. Having said I still think Amad and Roberts aren't doing nearly enough to hurt defenders ,giventheir undoubted ability.
