Has anyone's view on Stuart Donald changed in the last few weeks ?

We’ve become a more stable investment under his ownership. However fans will always view results on the pitch as a marker of success for any club.

There is a lot of work to do within the non playing side of the business however basic strides have been made in that regard.

On the playing side a lot is still not functioning properly- from recruitment to academy to U23s

Parkinson isn’t the manager to put a club identity in place and that is the main concern for me. League One is the place to do it as if and when we get in the Championship we are on the merry go round - don’t think there is a more short-termist league in the world. The top boys build a squad to get promotion and then usually fuck 90% of player off when they get it.

However I’d give SD a solid B.

i agree with you on alot of points, the only thing i'd say is it's really concerning how many really (supposedly) promising youngsters seem to be flooding out to other clubs. maybe it happens at every club below the elite few and we just don't hear about it (cuz i couldn't care less about any other club) maybe it's out of or control and would be happening anyway, maybe we're doing all in our power to keep them. it's just a concern and without knowing how much we're to blame i can't really give out a decent grade, we just don't know enough.

I agree that the full picture would address the situation you mention - however we have experienced professionals in a number of roles that can’t see to address this and their predecessors didn’t plan for this (in terms of contracts, extensions etc for promising players)

The main issue levelled are SD is that he hasn’t got the money to be successful - and while that is true he can’t follow the Man City cash filled resurgence - surely the creation of better systems on and off the pitch?

I also give Kevin Ball a huge par on the back for his tenure as 23s manager - I don’t think he’s a good coach or a tactically aware one either but mentally he prepared that squad for the demands of senior professional football. High standards that were met by the cream of that generation.

The lack of funds from the beginning was startling.
When they were talking about changing stadium name , changing club crest even to make a few quid and really changing anything at the club for a pittance of money
Me and a few others called them out from very early days and got slated on here.
But , has anyone changed there view on him and methven after recent documentary and interviews etc ?

it was always going to be a possibility when people wanted Ellis short out....his successor could be relatively poor for a club owner

Would you rather have Short, Drumaville or Murray back?
Yes. We weren't saved by them, Short cutting the debt saved us. Donald will never get us back to Premier League, I have little faith that he can get us back to the Championship too. They need to leave, they've destroyed the Academy, lost all the young prospects, bought mostly shite and they're starting to get loans in to keep the club running. We need new owners soon or we'll become an established League One club for many years to come.

The way they were economic with the truth about how they used the club‘s own money to pay-off Ellis Short, makes it impossible for me to trust them.

The main problem is there appears to be little alternative to these two; I’m genuinely worried about the future of SAFC.

Nope... confirmed everything I suspected from the very beginning.

All of it
Mate .

We are a mess

I think if you read my post again I have said we are a mess - however I do think we are slightly less of a mess than pre SD. Very slightly.

And for me any forward progress, however small, is better than the apathy and clusterfuck that we’ve suffered for a decade no?

Not really, don’t think the chancers label is fair, worked very hard, SD a decent bloke but just made too many bad football decisions.

This. clearly he cares and is probably not a bad bloke - it's been obvious from the start and the way he got his pet lip out on Twitter and on some podcasts shows he takes things to heart before we even saw STID2. And yeah he's in it for money, probably a bit of kudos and because he's a football fan (as his involvement elsewhere shows) but whilst some things off the pitch have went well, some footballing decisions have been a bit of a disaster and he's come up short.

I think the timing of the RAWA's statement around Christmas couldn't have come at a worse time, because Donald would have moved over soon enough anyway and whilst we wouldn't have spent much in the window it put a stop to almost everything. Short term at least it's probably hampered us.

Think he’s tried hard for the club he’s just way out his depth and made far to many mistakes , talked a load of shit aswell promising things he can’t deliver , he needs to sell the club asap

I never had a bad view of him anyway. The documentary just confirms what I already thought that he is a decent bloke. Some of the stick he has received has been out of order.
He’s a businessman that is/was protecting his interests, he has no affinity with Sunderland AFC , he saw a money making opportunity and went for it, the rest is history.
