Happy Valley

Bits of it felt a bit slapstick last night
The two drug runners are like the two robber characters out of home alone and getting into a scrap as a distraction then Tommy jumping out of the dock

Catherine was worried about Tommy kidnapping her and she’s about to retire at the end of the week

Think it was always on the cards. As they are saying this is the last ever series, there was always going to be a showdown between Catherine and Tommy. Just hope Catherine comes through it. I suspect a main character is going to die.

Be a bit cliche if the copper ends up killed right when they’re retiring.

Pleased it's got a couple left at least, for some reason I thought it said last night's was the last, which would have made the endings ridiculous.
I thought the same, the announcer defo said ‘The last ever Happy Valley’. I had to get on the IMDb to double check because that didn’t feel like a proper ending.

It would be in the hands of a lesser writer. I can see her possibly dying while saving Ryan, whereas she couldn't save her daughter. But I hope not.
She's very good but has she done any other stuff to note ?
She was recently in Julia for HBO as Julia Child the American chef/writer. Totally different type of character and very good. But I agree, it's ridiculous to compare her to Mirren and Dench who have had longer and more prolific careers.

The ending to series 2 will be hard to beat. The unravelling of the chief officer who killed that woman who blackmailed married men was stunning.

We only started with this a week or so ago but are up to date.

It's all a bit daft really - especially the most recent episode, but there's a lot worse on TV.

Hmm. "but there's a lot worse on TV" isn't exactly a glowing critique!

Well that's a very different view from most others, both on here and in the wider world. Most people seem to think it's excellent. You say there's a lot worse on TV. What things are you watching at the moment that you think is better?

If I wasn't enjoying it I wouldn't have binged the lot.

I'd just read my post back and picked myself up on the wording. Tend not to watch a great deal of dramas as we're all fighting for the TV anyway.

The daftness.
they've just allowed a convicted killer, a killer of police no less, to escape from the dock of a crown court
. It doesn't really get any dafter than that although I do appreciate you need to suspend belief with these things.
