Happy Valley

Yeah, the camera lingered on that too long for it to be inconsequential.

Thought the scenes with Ann and Ryan, Catherine and Claire were excellent. There’s been so many great character scenes, it’s just been let down by ludicrousness of the likes of the prison escape and the daft choices and inconsistencies some of the characters have made - like Catherine spotting that silver car drive past several times and waiting outside by herself when she got filled in.

The scene with Tommy and Knezevic in the van, there's the moment where he laughs at the fact that Tommy hasn't been abroad and Tommy's face turns to fury just for a second. Thought that was superbly done, showing that even though this bloke had broken him out of prison and Tommy owes him everything, he would still rip his throat out over a wrong word.

It's been a brilliant series.

At the prison when Neil and Ryan visited him, Neil said something and Tommy snapped and quickly tried to recover to save face in front of Ryan. , he’s a person of barely contained rage.

Yeah, but he holds Neil, like most people, in nothing but contempt. Knezevic holds Tommy's fate in his hands and if he did start on him, Tommy is as good as dead, but he still almost flipped over an innocuous comment. Thought it was excellent.

The acting and dialogue is brilliant, never watched this until last week and binged all two series and the missed episodes of this one 🤣

An example is Catherine’s nastiness, she’s like any of us and hits out quite spitefully when she she’s hurt.
Wierd question for me is whether Tommy really does care about his son after all.
And if so, in what capacitiy?

I think he cares in so much as he sees Ryan as an extension of himself. Ryan is nothing like his dad though (we keep laughing as we’ve got a sixteen year old and they’ve got Ryan spot on with his first thoughts being his console 🤣)

Don't think it's been dull at all, it's just had very high standards to live up to

And, as someone said, it's a drama not a documentary so allow it a little license.

As for next week, someone will die. But who? Can see Ryan seeing the light re Tommy, but who knows.

Reckon Ryan already knows Tommy isn't no good, and doesn't want to go with him but doesn't want to upset him.

And have a feeling Claire dies - I know everything is pointing at Catherine dying, but after last night's exchange I've just a hunch that it'll be Claire who is sacrificed.

No I think it is quite insightful, someone said yes because he sees Ryan as an extension of himself but I think yes because he sees Ryan as his, his property, like a car, money, possessions. Ryan belongs to him.
Exactly. I think he sees him as his blood, his achievement (somehow).
Part of the vanity

What significance this wedding that keeps getting mentioned and them two goons in general? Awful lot to tie up. I'm guessing it's the goons who will probably the ones picking him up in the van
It was on the Wednesday, Tommy escaped on Tuesday. I guess everything could happen the next day.

5 different endings filmed to try to mitigate against leaks.

I think Tommy and Catherine will make up and go off to live in Marbella together.

Nah…. The spirit of Catherine’s daughter will possess the body of her son and take her vengeance on Tommy, and dumped in a small welsh holiday village guarded by huge bouncy balls…

A spin off series will see Tommy trying to think of different ways of escaping screaming at anybody who pays attention that he is not a number

Not true apparently...
Happy Valley star responds to theory of multiple endings being filmed

"I do not know exactly how it ends. I did hear somewhere that they've made multiple endings, but that's not true," he said.

"What they've done is, as a lot of shows do – there is one ending, but they've filmed it in different ways, different ways of how characters say things, the emotions behind them, the angles, the framing, because how much that stuff can affect a scene is more than most people would think."
