why take any notice of the man who said 'you never win anything with kids' i dont think we need to do much research to find out what these kids of manchester utd did win!!!

and all the other newbies in the England team.

He's being rather negative and passing judgement on (writing off) players who are in their teens and early twenties. Apparently Henderson is "no scholes".

That might well be the case, but Paul Scholes was "no Scholes" when he was 20 either.

"no-one ever won anything with kids" - you'd think he might have learnt to be a little more circumspect.

doesnt seem negative about henderson at all imo

says he can be a top player etc

It just seems bizarre to write off any 19/20 year old Premier League player.

Also, of course Chris Smalling and Wilshire are clearly the most likely to become top players. Cos they "play" for Utd and Arsenal.

has anyone ever mentioned henderson as the new "scholes"?

To be brutally honest, who gives a flying fuck what Hanson says? How he manages to tout himself around on MOTD and have regular paper columns is beyond me, he has been out of the game for so long. Why compare Henderson to Bale? They play different positions and for different countries.

Darren Bent - he's nee Ryan Giggs though is he....

Surely there's plenty for him to get his teeth into concerning the Scottish squad and their youth, rather than casting a critical eye over the auld adversary:?:

his comments on andy carroll

Andy Carroll is different and I think he can certainly carve out a career with England because, at his best, he can pulverise defences and he offers something new and exciting. Had he not been struggling with a groin problem, I would have started him against France

is there any international team these days, that plays with a tall front man, who needs long crosses from either side, to score goals

we were told that to play that sort of style, will take england nowhere

something "new and exciting" forgive me but peter crouch has played this role for the last 5 years

Every midfielder who runs up and down a bit is the "new scholes" man.
henderson has never fouled a player like scholes

He hasn't cast a glance at anything to do with Scotland for about 20 years now. Probably since Miller and Mcleish were chosen ahead of him......

This doesn't seem negative to me:

Henderson is a good all-rounder and he has a chance to develop into a top player. The advantage he has over some of the other younger players is that he is playing regularly for Sunderland. At 20, he has made almost 50 Premier League appearances and that is a rarity because many home-grown youngsters find their progress stunted by the number of foreign players in the Premier League.

Jack Wilshere, who has been selected by Capello previously, would appear to have the best chance of establishing himself. But although he has done well with Arsenal this season, I do not recall him standing out during his loan spell at Bolton last season.

He definitely did stand out at Bolton. Hansen is just full of shit.

Though for some reason he thinks Smalling 'Clearly' has the attributes to be a top player. He's only saying that because Ferguson shelled out for him, and i'm sure if Ferguson spent 10M on any of the others he'd soon decide they too clearly had the attributes to be a top player.

lets face it, if Henderson leaves for 15M Hansen would soon say he wasnt just a 'decent prospect,' he would be whatever the manager who bought him said he was. He's not just negative, he barely has any ideas of his own either. That's what annoys me

This doesn't seem negative to me:

but he is not a Paul Scholes and you would not say that he is catching the eye as regularly as Gareth Bale, who is just a year older.

But of all the new faces in the squad, from Bothroyd and Carroll through to Chris Smalling and Jordan Henderson, I do not see anybody you could bill as a potential world-beater or someone you would expect to win 60-70 caps.

How can he say that? With the exception of Bothroyd, they're all 18, 19 and 20.
