probably a few and a few more who are coming to the end of their careers like drogba. not 95%, vast majority will take premiership or la liga etc everytime

you think hes going for more then hendo or bent? ne way

The 95% comment was more in regard to players taking the better deal not specifically to that league

Some people are never happy.

Where do you think Swansea will be next season, do you see them as an established prem side?

Look like Hull to me

most liekly. without investment they wont keep finishing like that

fair enough

smells like backtracking like

People always seem to forget that the teams tha come up and do well are normally still on a high. And they're a new commodity. I fully expect Swansea to get f***ing battered next year.

Since 2007 weve spent about 150 million, recovering about 77 million according to this link http://www.transferleague.co.uk/premiership-transfers/sunderland-transfers.html So much for the net spend not being much. Just like saying, if we sell sess for 20 million and buy 4 craig gardners it doesnt matter cos theres no net spend, still doesnt mean we're any good does it?

It isn't - aren't you any good at maths or do you work for the Sun.

now you're getting there - how much we spend should have little baring on you expectations - you should be looking at the whole picture and making a sensible judgement from there. If you simply focus on 'oohh we've spent 150 million' without taking everything in to account then you'll end up with unrealistic expectations and in all likelihood disappointment.

When did i say i werent happy, im just saying we arent very good, or are we?

what do class as very good?

Ok then, weve spent around 80 million pound on transfers and are still rubbish. I by no means expect us to be challenging for top 6 every year, but do i expect to finsih above 13 th in the league after spending 22 million pound on incoming players the following summer, granted they were funded by the sale of bent and henderson ? Course i do

Id like us to compete with likes of everton, newcastle, fulham and west brom. Or am i being too ambitious?

Better than we have been for decades, check it out

 I know we are, but as long as people are happy with us being better than we are in the 80 or whatever we're never going to progress are we?

under Bruce. But Keane's net spend was £60m or something daft. We're a loooong way from breaking even net since our return to the Prem.

edit: sorry seen this has already been discussed

we are but it's still less than 14 million a season, baring in mind the merry-go-round of players in and out, coupled with instability at the managerial position then I'll take where we are.

Everton
The mags didn't have to rebuild, that's a myth. They kept a bloody good side even in the championship. Underperformers rather than shite.

Fulham are London. We'll never win that battle.

Which leaves WBA...

To throw your own question back at you, who said they were happy?

I am content that we now look like an established premiership side, but, yes, I want more.

Lets see what MON can do

They spend fuck all in comparison to us man, why shouldnt we compete with them with what we've spent like?

are you saying we aren't competing with these?

p.s. - I'd add Stoke in there as well and have everton as the benchmark.

After finishing 20 points behind the mags and 11 behind everon i wouldnt say we were competing with them tbh. We should be though

And have the same players and manager they've had for a long time. Stability is highly underrated in football for some reason.

TBF I'd still say we were already competing with them (but the op seems to forget that they are allowed to spend as well).

We finished 2, 2 and 5 points behind them respectively in the last three seasons.

Yeah I know but I like to waffle ;)

They still ironically seem better than us, especially on paper. And sadly on entertainment.

That's why I had Everton as the benchmark and we've finished above Newcastle for the previous three seasons so I'm not sure why you think we aren't competing with them.

You've got your opinion and I've got mine and take the top 4 and chelsea out of the equation and there's very little difference amongst the rest.
