That's why I had Everton as the benchmark and we've finished above Newcastle for the previous three seasons so I'm not sure why you think we aren't competing with them.

You've got your opinion and I've got mine and take the top 4 and chelsea out of the equation and there's very little difference amongst the rest.

At one point we were only what..5 points behind the mags? For whatever reason, the team gave up.

They spend fuck all in comparison to us man, why shouldnt we compete with them with what we've spent like?

They still spend a good amount and their starting point was higher than ours.

Plus, other than MON they've had a manager who is streets ahead of Keane, Sbragia and Bruce.

Theyve spent 65 million and received 70 odd million in the same amount of time we've spent 150 and received 70 odd in sales, yes they had a better team than but their really isnt an excuse for not competing with them. Maybe im being too ambitious

Ok then, weve spent around 80 million pound on transfers and are still rubbish. I by no means expect us to be challenging for top 6 every year, but do i expect to finsih above 13 th in the league after spending 22 million pound on incoming players the following summer, granted they were funded by the sale of bent and henderson ? Course i do

Don't be daft.

I obviously talk in the language of longhorn or something.

Settled spine. Quality manager. Experienced professionals and at several points, European football.

We had the big names, we werent ambitious enough to keep them

Gyan got 13, didnt fletcher only score 12 ;) Gyan is a much better player than fletcher like
If your going to pluck figures out the air then i've scored 500 goals for sunderland

Not too ambitious just unrealistic.

The year we were winning the fizzy pop they were finishing 6th, our first season up they finished 5th.

You are focusing on the money and taking any other factor into consideration (where've I read that before).

Don't be daft.

I missed that bit :lol::lol:

it'd like trying to explain to our lass how test match cricket is the pinnacle of sport

 I was thinking about its like teaching a lass to reverse park, but I prefer your example.

They dont come anymore experienced than wes brown and john oshea. Cattermole, seb larsson, craig gardner, richardson, bardsley and michael turner have played most if not all of their careers in the premier league. We have Mo'n now so hopefully we can start pulling our weight properly next season ;)

I meant experienced at winning ;)

Any decent player we're linked with is immediately labelled as "too good" by our support.

TBH, I'd say it was the opposite.

We're very hard to please on here, we could sign Messi and I guarantee some people would seriously suggest he'd get out muscled in the PL (wet night at Stoke, all that shite).

I bet Ben Arfa wouldn't ;)

"@Fourth_Official: Asamoah Gyan has signed a permanent deal with UAE side of Al Ain after agreeing a fee with Sunderland #safc"
