Guardiola pleads with City fans to make some noise

If that is the case then perhaps low income folk should become quieter and see their wealth increase.

Possibly got more to do with how the fans who go and their lives have changed and what is socially acceptable.
13-25 years olds income won't increase if they become quieter.
I could afford to attend every home game, only financed by a paper round and still have a bit left over to buy the odd record. I along with many others made a tremendous noise congregating and jumping about. That doesn't happen anymore.

Whats this bullshit with ckubs booing the champions league anthem???

Its absolutely class

Man City boo because UEFA fined them for breaching financial fair play rules as well as UEFA failing to deal with the racial abuse of their players.

Why Man City fans boo the UEFA Champions League anthem

Barcelona boo because UEFA banned their fans bringing the Catalan flag into the ground because it’s “political”.

Do you think someone it is just as likely to have the same upbringing as you now, and if so are they still just as likely to make the same racket you did?

It makes you think, what’s the end goal for football. I’d love to see us win a proper cup, the FA Cup. We’re realistically never going to win the league. We got into the Premier League & it got a bit shit towards the end, always swimming against the tide.

If a team’s supporters who could potentially win 4 of the biggest trophies out this year can’t get motivated, when can you. Man City historically have a loud & passionate support. Has money killed it. Will it come back if they’re shit?

Very good point

This is the point for me and why Im not bothered we are in league 1.......There is nobody can tell me that this season has not been bloody brilliant compared to the last 5 or 6 years?

Everyone seems desperate to get back into the Premier league, aye, lets have a season like the mags this year, getting beat most weeks, flirting with relegation most of the season and with 6 or 7 games to go sitting just above the relegation places, far enough off to know barring disasters they wont go down but so far away from even mid table they have nowt to play for.

If we got into the Prem again what would the realistic ambition be? Outside the top 6 every clubs only real ambition is to stay in the cash cow that is the Premier league. What a bloody awful existence as a football fan that is. Attendances will undoubtedly push 45k a week again but if people are going in the Premier and not now the only reason can be to watch the opposition.

It's a lot to do with so called "new football fans" watching live football. alot more women and young children go to games now, plus The new soulless stadiums and all seater bowls play their part in reducing the atmosphere at games..

Disagree, any stadium can be bouncing if the fans make it happen. The Mags game when Defoe scored that wonder goal was nuts, the entire place was bouncing and even Thierry Henry was in awe as we sang and went mad all through half time......

Fans performance, just like football teams fluctuates, some clubs fans are able to keep that level of performance higher. Fair play to the bin dippers their support at home is outstanding. Our home support can be crap at times but our away support unreal, probably due to the fact that you have highly motivated fans going away and its back to being an all day event (generally with loads of drink).....Man United are the same, shit at home but loud as fuck and never shut up away.

For me the flag lads should be massively admired, anything that is done to try and improve the atmosphere consistently has to be tried as we know the impact a bouncing SOL can have on the team.

It can't be bouncing if you're told to sit down or you'll be ejected, just look at what's happened in the first leg at spurs..

This really. People can't get their head around the fact that football and football fans are different to those of the 70s and 80s. When I was a kid going to the games with my dad it was an all day event, few pints in the derby with his mates while we played football in the back lane, off to the fulwell end then back to the pub after the game and home for about 8. Nowadays people turn up at quarter to 3, buy a pie and coffee and sit in their seat. Added to the fact it's practically a non contact sport and the whole event is different. It won't ever be like it was in the good old days again.
another thing people don't get their heads around

It wasn't always full houses and non stop support back then either

"The players are proud of what they have achieved, but they are human beings. At this stage, without supporters, we cannot go through. We need it. I am interested to see how the supporters can react".

Apparently Pep has concerns about lack of atmosphere, particularly for Champions League games, where ticket sales are down and fans boo the champions league anthem befote kick off.

The one real definable trend that coincides with reducing atmosphere at stadiums is all seater venues. Having experienced 20 years of all seater stadiums and 30 years of mixed stadiums I'd be inclined to point the finger at this as the reason without a doubt.

Oh, and the soft as shite, easily offended, gender confused, like obsessed social media generation playing with their phones during games ;)
not true, correctly offended, aren't we all?, you're literally posting this on social media, agree with these twats though

Yes based on the noise generated by smaller crowds 40 years ago when a good percentage of The Fulwell and other home ends was made up from 13-25 year olds who will have been in the lower income bracket.

13-25 year old MALES

Hardly and women or families taking their kids for a day out

That's a big difference

But but... The players don't care whether the fans make noise or not

Spurs fans created a good atmosphere, in the first leg but were then threatened with eviction and banning from their new ground for standing up. yet on mainland Europe, everyone stands in the singing sections and the media/players/coaches all say the games have more atmosphere, wonder why..
