Over 40s were obviously born before 1976.
That means many of them encompass the 60s and the rock generation.
Woodstock, The Who, The Stones, Carnaby Street, Summer of Love, and real socialist working class governments.
I am astounded that anyone can think it odd that someone from that era should continue to want to wear jeans as they progress through life.

My father in law wore jeans in his 70s, see loads of blokes that age in jeans.

Aye marra, Levi sta prest and a Ben Sherman shirt. Crombie and a fetching pair of red braces. Dealers boots from Haswell mart.
I still wear a Crombie when visiting cold countries, always wear a Prince of Wales suit, have 2 x pairs of loafers, 4 x pairs of brogues, red socks of course.

I'd like to read that article, I remember reading there is a Sunderland in Argentina and they play in black and white stripes, because all they had to go off was black and white photos!

Atletico de Madrid founded in 1903 by Basque students from Bilbao, and as for the one in Bilbao:

ATHLETIC BILBAO AND Sunderland/Southampton

Athletic Bilbao's English origin is evident in the club's use of the English word 'Athletic', rather than the Spanish 'Atletico'. Their first official kit was a blue and white number inspired by BlackburnRovers, but they switched to red and white stripes after a club member bought 50 new shirts on a trip to England. There are claims from both Sunderland and Southampton (like Bilbao, both ports, with heavy links to the Spanish city) that their local team provided Athletic's historic shirts. Whatever the truth there, England's influence is undeniable on one of Spain's most historic clubs.

Depends on the denim really. Has to be darker the older you get.
