Great article - imho!

Well what do you know, when it’s not a blatant opinion piece, he writes well.
The writing is still crap for me. The lad tries to cram too many ideas into one sentence. But, to be fair to him, I bet he’s never even seen an editor, let alone worked with one.

That said, the analysis is very good and accurate.

It is a good read, and probably true as well. It does make you wish they'd had the courage to follow through and make the change in the summer though.
Would have put hell of a lot of pressure on incumbent as a bad start or bad run fans would be questioning sacking of Mowbray more so than are now.

TM said in an early season interview that he didnt know that his contract was automatically extended because we reached the top 6. If Millwall had not imploded v Blackburn he probably would have left in the summer

Maybe, but that way the new head coach has all of pre-season to work with the squad. I don't want them to placate the fans if they believe they're doing the right thing for the club.

Potentially we would have the bloke who has Nice sitting 2nd only behind PSG.

Yeah, a fair piece that. Totally agree that this is the culmination of a move started by the club in the Spring. It was obvious in the summer that the relationship had broken down somewhat. Nick Barnes commented on it early doors and he doesn't run his mouth off for nothing.

I thought the writing was on the wall after the opening two defeats, and I actually thought he'd be gone a fair bit sooner, but then we did put a decent run together. The club were just waiting for the next dip to part ways.

I agree with how it will have gone over the summer and if the club did hold fire due to fan popularity then they need to learn their lesson for next time.
But you mustn’t learn the wrong lesson. It’s not “act quickly and ignore the fans”, it’s “act swiftly if you face a reason to think you can get better. And pre season is a great time to do it”
Interesting piece but as per the article’s narrative, the club didn’t move to replace when Mowbray was overperforming. They did it when we were having a poor run in early 2023.

Both lessons can be one and the same, I'd argue they're both valid in what should have happened in the summer. I agree, pre season is the time.

Yeah. I suppose another way of putting it is that just because you regret pulling the trigger in May, it doesn’t mean now is necessarily the time to do it.

For me it all depends on who the new manager is. It could be a good switch, it could be a poor one. Time will tell
