No it isn't. He's getting slagged off in the national media for not taking one. Not like he's come out laughing his cock off at them for missing for no reason.
we'll agree to disagree.
It showed a lack of class for me

Don’t see how people can’t see this. It was an absolutely lifting decision from Southgate. At least give them second half of added time to run the nerves out of their legs. Anyone who’s played football KNOWS you need a few touches to settle your legs down. Two players brought on at the last minute, cold, barely touched the ball, expected to take a high pressure penalty. Its not a coincidence both failed. Managers choice.
Saka taking the fifth penalty will forever remain one of the most baffling decisions of all time. Never once looked like scoring.

I whatsapped my son telling him they were risky subs, before the penalties. And so it turned out.Fully agree. Zero time to adjust to the environment. For all Southgate's opinions and experience with sport science, this is the most baffling decision going.
Means nowt though does it, the young lads ended up missing. I would just have went with the biggest men, Kane, Maguire, Hendo, then those with massive self belief so Grealish all day long. It's pointless anyway, if me Aunty had balls and all that.Henderson has missed his last two penalties for England.

Agree 100% too, I don't want to knock any of the whole group, they did fecking brilliant and lost by a couple of kicks but talk about putting massive pressure on young shoulders. I will never get why he did it but he's an International manager and I'm not.Fully agree. Zero time to adjust to the environment. oooooooooffffffff, not sure he should be coming out with that like
I would have had him and Hendo for one all day, it's not even about ability at that stage it 's bottle and self belief. Maybe could have even had Pickford put his foot through one before putting the young lads under silly pressure.
Southgate choose the list and it was the wrong one.
What's the worst that could happen? Not getting picked by bignose? Being embarrassed by bignose?
Check.
Check.
Anything else?
When the media invent scenarios players have to defend themselves.
I bet you'd do it yourself when the entire nation was putting blame on you from made up shite.just poor form for me
Kane and Maguire looked efficient. The other three much less so. Maybe it's the attitude rather than capability?I’ve no problem with those who took the penalties last night . They obviously wanted to take one and must have shown in training to be the best at converting them .
there was a shot on the bbc, where it look like southgate asked grealish and he he basically said yeah to something being asked.Southgate choose the list and it was the wrong one.
This, decision may have taken account of being likely to still be suffering from the studs in the knee and on another night he might have been hitting a shit penalty because of it.He’s right to defend himself. He also didn’t have a pop at the manager and agreed with his decision, just highlighted that he wanted to take one too
He has defended himself and the manager. I don't see how he has thrown Southgate under the bus. He has just said that he offered to take a penalty and the manager chose other players to take them, he respected the managers decision because he has made good decisions all tournament. It's a tough one. Do you throw your boss under the bus to defend yourself? I'm not sure myself. Southgate has already stated he made the decisions. It should be left there for me.
Sancho has taken 3 for Dortmund and scored all 3 mind1. Kane
2. Shaw
3. Rashford
4. Maguire/Stones/Henderson if he was still on
5. Grealish
no need to be putting Sancho and Saka in that position at all. Baffling.
