Grayson update....

My main concern is whether or not Short will actually back him and allow him to bring in the right players.
I think Grayson has played it right by not humiliating the players by forcing them to play in the u23's. He's tried to give them a chance to be involved whilst actively trying to move them on. If he'd ostracised them they'd only have been worse and harder to move on.
Agreed he has done his best. Not sure Kone could have been worse nor harder to move on, but never mind.

Honestly though he's said this same thing consistently for weeks.

We've also heard Khazri's name mentioned more than once.

So we know about Lens and Kone, but Khazri seems to get an easy ride on here because "it's Moyes's fault".
To be honest I'm at the stage where I'd be happy if all the want aways fucked off even if it includes the likes of Cattermole and Ndong. We all know it's going to be a hard season and promotion is unrealistic at best.

One problem is if you get rid of all the lads, your not exactly left with consummate professionals.

The sad reality is its the good players that dont want to be here and at the end of the day shit players who are committed are still shit players.

He's saying all the right things, however it's actions that count. I just hope that him and Short are on the same page....not sure about that. We need to be rid of the rotten apples and sign some decent replacements......3 or 4 weeks to do that. He then needs to impose his authority on the players, establish an ethic and coach and organise them into a cohesive and confident unit....that process should already have started, although we've seen precious little of it so far. At some point soon the rhetoric has to stop and the management has to produce results. I'm waiting till end August, from then we will need to see significant improvement, because unless we can make the squad changes necessary without having to wait till the end of the window,we will be in the bottom half of this division.

If we're bottom by xmas but have gotten rid of the rotten core I'll be happy.

It's time to start thinking long-term for a change.

That's the thing mate....players who can do it if they wish but often don't replaced by players who would do it if they could but can't.

You'd have thought there was a middle path between the two but implementing that seems beyond the capabilities of our owner and CEO.

"There are players who will leave in the next few days and weeks while the window is still open and new ones will come in,” Grayson said.

”The ones we bring in are going to have to be the right types, with hunger and desire.

"I've said to the players that if anyone doesn't want to be at the football club my door is open and I'll drive you to wherever you want to go to.

"I want players who want to play for this football club.”

Haway the Grayson!

Yawn yawn

Loans out and big losses on sales to be replaced by honest but extremely limited players like Waghorn and Hugill.

We all want to see endeavour but that alone is going to make this a turgid season.
absolutely , a poster on here the other day said he would be happy with "triers" , rather than actual technically good players ?
Am sorry but "triers " won't get that stadium full, its a difficult balancing act , McGeady for example who I don't rate or like , you would class as a "player" but the way he strolled about totally disinterested at times v celtic sickens me ( Good player past their prime just don't put enough effort in ) but getting kids that have promise is a gamble ) , having said all that , I will be at the match on friday and I am hoping we don't have to watch the likes of Jones "trying".

This thread proves there is no pleasing the people who frequent this board.
I'll tell you what'll please the people that frequent this board, the absence of a team that doesn't show them up every step of the way, a club that doesn't take the piss season after season, players that give a fuck, oh! and the odd win every month or so and people like you that have go at people because they've put up with f***ing shite for years.

some players have bad attitudes but you can man manage them if their talent justifies it. the problem comes when you have 3 or 4 or more poisoningthe place

grayson needs to work out the ones to get rid of because like it or not , you need good footballers and not all have a good attitude

It's alright old mess, and all the ingredients for disaster are there, including moving players on before replacing them ... too late again, pick up what you can at the end of the window then repeat. Diminishing returns each time, both financially and in player ability ... if they do find a good one then he'll be sold while the shit ones are given four year deals and will happily see them out. We're reaching terminal velocity.

Every manager we've had since Keane has said the same thing. It's easy to say what the problem is, it's a lot more difficult to fix it.

What a f***ing ridiculous statement.

The long term would be relegation, sub-£20m turnover, unsustainable debt and eventual administration....just like Bolton.
As opposed to a crippling wage bill and a squad full of players who don't want to be here? Kone won't even run man, he fkn jogs. Do you really think we're gonna do well with him in the team?

Gonna be great having Kone and Lens when we're in league 1 innit? They'll really put a shift in then.
