To be honest unless we unearth loads of young stars or have a £100 million purchase budget then we will come straight back down again. No disrespect to the manager but we are building a team to stay in the championship league, hardly one to get out of it. If we did succeed then we would have the perennial problem of replacing the loanees and most of the remaining squad. How many of our currently owned players are Premier class and if so why haven't they been snapped up by Premier clubs. Trust me, if someone came round sniffing with a £10 note Short would snatch it.
i agree with most of what you have said, however i was hopeful that the club would come to the fans and say, this is the plan, but it just seems to be guess work Ricky, at the moment i am not sure what the expectations or ambitions are.
Bain met with the fans earlier in the year with Moyes saying there was a longterm plan as i recall.
Did we ever find out what it was ?
Something along the lines of....Too many managers, wasted money on shite, shrewd and competitive in the transfer market and reducing the debt..
so what does that tell you about the season ahead.
It was horse-shite at the time..

"This club has to get better at buying and selling," he said. "Like it or lump it, we should be looking at bringing players to this club and selling them for a greater value.
"We have to look at acquiring players at a younger age, too."
But the signings, we have made so far, don't reflect that policy, well not all of them
Royal 8er is a breath of fresh air compared to Moyes man !Breath of fresh air compared to Moyes
Even he must be wondering if he'll get the time and funds to put this shit show rightAs ever, speaks pragmatic realistic sense. He cannot carry the can for everything that has gone at the club over the last few years
For nowBreath of fresh air compared to Moyes
It's funny how it's been conveniently forgotten that for the vast majority of time our owner has been here we've been a PL side. Boro have been bobbing away in the championship the vast majority of the time, finally got promoted and showed very little ambition to stay up and as a result went straight back down. They've spent money this season because they can afford to due to the the complete lack of ambition to stay up in the first place.was his mismanagement and lack of Leadership that got us into this shite so aint been much of a business man here for sure.
Wish he had the same ambition as Gibson down the road is showing
To be fair I'm no happy clapper but I'm no pissy pants either, I listened to the interview (unlike most who will no doubt comment)
1. He is a positive bloke who wants to and is happy to be at Sunderland
2. He wants players who like him want to be here and if they don't they are free to go.
3. He wants players in with the same mentality.
4. Some players will go in the next few days/weeks.
5. We have a competitive budget in this league.
6. We will bring players in with the right a work ethic and desire
We can't judge him until the transfer window has shut and the season is under way. He didn't make this mess, he is here to improve on it. After hearing that am pleased he is. Even if he wasn't my first choice as manager, given what he has walked into, I'll certainly give him a chance.
It seems his expectations and ambitions are limited to selling the club and getting his money back. Instead of working to a plan that would achieve this, through success, he works back from his goal without a plan to achieve it!i agree with most of what you have said, however i was hopeful that the club would come to the fans and say, this is the plan, but it just seems to be guess work Ricky, at the moment i am not sure what the expectations or ambitions are.
