Grayson not getting carried away by Sunderland's win at Norwich....

Compared to this board........"Happy Clapper Central"

"It's a great win and it has been a strong-ish start for us - but that's all it is, a good start, and no-one is getting carried away.

"What has happened here is in the past - it's all about what happens in the future now and what I will say is that I have got a good, hard-working group here - it's a working class city and that's what the people demand."

I'm liking this Mr Grayson

Eh? Would you rather we lost but had 70% possession?
It's actually reassuring rather than worrying that we a solid result from such low possession. It shows we had a plan and executed it very well.
I expect us to employ this tactic a lot against teams like Wolves, Boro,Hull and the like.
The lad doesn't want Grayson here, he's set his stall out and of course he's going to bend over backwards to find negatives to focus on.

He can only play whats in front of him...with what most would agree was an awful hand...he has "managed"(which others you seem to defend did not!) this hand very well(so far) and although it is very early days he is doing a very good job.He even attends the under 23s which many before him were sporadic at best in attending....there is a good feel to what he is doing which most really appreciate given the circumstances he inherited from "big name bosses". The other managers in the "best league in the world " as you put it were generally given a boat load of money and bought trash and largely ignored the Academy -he does not have such luxury...so give him a bit of credit

Can't be arsed to write a long response to that but if you're disagreeing with the argument that you can't make a straight comparison between the Championship and the Premiership then you're talking nonsense.
Of course I'll give him credit if he does well for us - I'd love nowt more - but I won't compare it with other managers until he's managing at the same level. That's just common sense.

just got back and i'm not one to get carried away but today we didn't play all that well but took our chances. the key to going up in this league is to do exactly that. they seem to have more confidence in a couple of games under grayson than that at any point last season under moyes.
hopefully this confidence will improve the performances and results will follow. fingers crossed anyway.

Did he, Grayson came in when we were probably at our lowest ebb for years, his appointment wasn't universally well received, Moyes pretty much was.
Grayson has barely spent £2m, Moyes spent £30m.
I'm not comparing leagues or points gained or who is the better manager, but I think Grayson's job was/is equally as difficult as Moyes.

Amazes me that after last season some still think Moyes was not at fault for what happened and that he was dealt an unplayable hand.

In the Championship. Even the Mags looked good in the Championship.

I'm hoping Grayson does well (obviously) and I think he's a likeable bloke but it's ridiculous to do a straight comparison between his performance this year and the performances of previous managers who just happened to be managing in possibly the strongest league in the world.

It's like boasting you get better results than your mate on FIFA when you're on beginner and he's on pro.
Remind me how many points Rafa's billion pound squad had after 2 games last season?

Ha ha. I'm not going there because the obvious response from any onlooking Mag would be to remind us how many they finished with and where they're now playing their football.

Or are you insinuating I'm a Mag?

This. Moyes had a hard job,I supported him because of it, but it can't compare to the job Grayson has! A team who can't even get 30 PL points would struggle in the Championship. Take away their best striker, their star keeper and others (borini) and give about £2m to replace them with and you've given a near impossible task. Certainly harder than what Moyes walked into.

I don't think we'll go up, I think we'll be near mid table, but if (big if) Grayson can get us anywhere near then I'm sorry, he's done a job here akin to Peter Reid.
Good post

I'm suggesting that your dismissal of our start by comparison to Newcastle 'looking good' last year, is harsh on Grayson and flatters Newcastle. Newcastle went down on 37 points with a 'world class manager' ;) having spent 500 billion pounds, they then sold a couple of players for huge fees and all of that money was ploughed back into the (already) expensively assembled playing staff. They also had continuity and togetherness behind a manager that the fans irrationally adore. They had 0 points after 2 games.

We got relegated with about 4 points on the board, after we couldn't afford to throw money at it or the sack the useless knacker in charge. We came down had a squad with gaping holes in it, sold both goalkeepers and our only striker, lost a host of other players and all of the loanees went back, we've appointed a new manager who has had little time to assess the squad amd wasn't universally welcomed, he's reinvested about 2m quid to bring in a handful of players from the 35m raised and we've got 4 points from the opening 2 games.

If we're comparing like for like, our start this season is a significantly superior one to Newcastle's last year, both in actual performance and justifiable expectation, given the circumstances.

For God's sake man - I haven't dismissed our start to the season, I'm very happy with it so far

I'm just saying we can't start going on about Grayson being better than all previous managers until he's being tested at the same level. That's f***ing irrefutable imo but there you go.

early days
That it is marra, that it is. But its a breath of fresh air after what we had to endure last season.

Op can't get over losing Moyes. Total prick.
He does seem somewhat reluctant to accept hes gone mind.

Doing great so far, shame he's a slapheed
Hey you flea bitten worm infested mongrel, what's your issue with slapheeds ?

Its a sign of a real testosterone fuelled blokes bloke
Thats the spirit my man. Solar powered sex machine.
Only get a good crop on horseshite etc etc.

Jones was shit:neutral:
:lol::lol::lol:

How very dare we be happy we won a football match, I mean why would football fans be glad they won a match
As will my wine. Enjoy :)
Shameful behavior IMHO. The demon drink indeed. I'm offended. I'm off to my safe space.

That's bang on the attitude to have. Good win today but knowing is we'll go to Hillsborough on Wednesday and play shite.

Lets hope we carry the momentum on and get off to a good start for once.

This. But there'll be days we lose in this league, maybe heavily. It's a see saw, grind it out division. Longevity is king. Game at a time.
