It appears the original rumour states they're after a striker from Sunderland with a more than 1 goal per 2 games ratio for his international team. They seem to think it's Bent, they've even looked at Gyan and Welbecks stats.
However, they've not looked at David Healy's (or haven't mentioned it) yet his would be the record that most resembles 1 per 2 game ratio for NI. We can but hope.

Sorry mate, but moving to a club that are two points behind you with a game in hand is a sideways step whichever way you look at it. Especially when that team has finished higher than you for two years running.

Stoke........

No not at all. It would seem that a lot of your posters were outraged by Savage's recent comments though eh?

Back to the subject. As for fours years, what striker looks at what a team were doing four years ago? Face it, it would be a sidewards move. If you disagree with that then you have delusions of grandeur.

You seem to be forgetting that I don't think Bent will make the move  .

I did see Healy's name floating around on the Oatcake, but it was brushed aside by those desperate to sign yet another good striker that wouldn't be used to their full potential.

There's a Stokie posting on this very thread, ask him how well Danny Boy is doing.

i was meaning at the time we sold him, obviously now he wouldnt get a look in but it was a strange time to sell him when we did. He was our player of the season the season before then we just decided to get rid of him.

for 2 reasons:

a) he was 'player of the season' in a very bad side. Basically, he was the best of the shite.

b) he wasnt good enough for the level we wanted to move to.

why people still harp on about him, and how we shouldnt have sold him, baffles me to be honest!

When someone comes knocking with that kind of money for a player like Danny the old rule applies....snappeth off the hand.

Very good management and foresight  .

four years ago, we were still a bigger club than you lot, that's all im saying.

Rule of thumb on there is if Davesviews says it, they believe it. That March4 fella I have had tell me all about how we have no money and are in a precarious financial situation before, but he never produces anything even remotely persuasive to back it up.

Styles himself as the Pancake financial guru. In reality I suspect he just reads the broadsheets. His 'SAFC have no money' originated in summer 2009 when he couldn't find anything about Ellis Short on the internet and has gone through numerous wildly different iterations. They laud him for 'predicting' WHU and Brums financial downfall. as far as I can see it was all in the press well before.

As for Bent to Stoke, I would suggest that one of them ask him. He's freely available on Twitter. That Davesviews fella has had Stoke spending over £40m every transfer window (they never follow up -funny that) and isn't worth listening to unless he says that someone is signing in 48 hours. He spends the first 3 weeks of the transfer window casting his net far and wide. What the minority of Pancakers who are getting carried away need to ask themselves is whether Stoke are willing to shell out the £15-20m to sign him and the £60k+ p/w to pay him. Considering the song and dance Pulis made after taking Jones, I'd suspect not.

sorry to be a pedant but its 3pts and the game in hand is arsenal away.

Even at the very peak of his form here he was complete and total shite.
