Angry angry unhappy men
Keane will love Goochie ,his 100 per cent effort and ability to give what he can in various positions sometimes within 90 mins.Whereas a few lazy people will be shitting themselves on Keanos arrival.

Aye, think he will play loads under Keane if he comes.

We also have absolutely no full backs either, so he will have to have games there.

He has been playing 2 or 3 positions a game at times man

Its fine int he stadium tbf, its mostly just trolls on an internent message board who target him

When he does his 'shielding the ball like he is casting a magic spell over it' manoeuvre seeking to get s free kick is possibly the most infuriating thing he does amongst many of his other hopeless attributes.

Anyone else think this lad is becoming a bit of a scapegoat?

I know he frustrates at times with his decision making but he can play some good football also when in his correct position.

He has taken on a tough role at right back recently and he is clearly out of his depth in that position, but people need to cut him some slack. This position should have been addressed in January and Gooch shouldn’t be playing there.

Yesterday at the match I saw a shocking ball played to him and before the ball even got near him the fans lost it with him. Gooch ironically trapped the ball and played it back to Doyle in what stopped the ball going out for a throw in to Doncaster and the fans around me looked a bit silly.

Gooch has been no worse than most during this bad spell but nobody else gets as much abuse as this lad.

I don’t think people want him to fail and people are right to expect better but people need to cut him slack.

Played more decent crosses in on Saturday and over the past month than anyone else probably. Puts a shift in every game, but the fact he's prone to brain farts and has some frustrating elements means (and he's been here longer) mean he's more noticeable and he's become a scapegoat as a result.

Over the past 2 seasons we've always been weaker when he's been out.

Far from the worst player on Saturday, this month or this season. Its a bit mad because there are players in other areas who are costing us and very little is said, because of how they are perceived. There are times when he's cost us this season and there was a period when he was absolutely dog shit, but even when he does well he's the first to get criticism.

Saturday he wasn't even remotely close to being our worst player yet he got as much stick as anyone. Unfortunately there's no way back for him with some fans. They've decided he's been crap in a game before it's even started.

He gets stick because he is so frustrating to watch at times. Can get himself in good positions and make good runs, sometimes, but he has no football brain and nearly always makes the wrong decision when he has the ball in the final third.

He'll play loads regardless of who the manager is, because he's one of our best players.

Pretty much this, I don't think he's got it in him to turn perception of him around as even if he's scoring again and running at defenders in the final third, he's still going to be frustrating on occasions and make poor choices at times - just the way he is and always has been.

The fact he's generally always available to do that means he stands out, some others will hide and still make poor decisions when given the opportunity.

He's nowhere near good enough Rockster.

Granted, he's quick, has a decent touch and can beat a man, but he has no footballing brain whatsoever. He just hasn't got the ability understand how to use the tools he has.

Agreed though, he wasn't the worst at the weekend and there are others who played that should probably be taking more stick than him.

Well said mate,it actually makes me sad when regardless of skill level the ones that get on with it are targeted, while others disappear off the radar.Like a poster said someone shouted for the effing yank to do better with his corners, which he never takes.

Not a scapegoat. A lot of people have been talking about his bad form for weeks now yet he still gets picked at some other players expense. Maybe his form is down to the fact he gets moved around too much, if so, that's down to the management and himself. The whole team seems to slump in form on a regular basis and everyone knows it, so Gooch isn't the scapegoat, it's just a mystery as to why he keeps getting picked, far too inconsistant.

Gooch is bloody rubbish. I was watching him on Saturday. Think he managed to get 1 good cross across in 10 attempts.

He reminds me of Duncan Watmore - stocky, nippy, doesn't get his head up enough, and I wouldn't be surprised if he plays at a higher level like Dunc when he leaves us. If someone can get some consistency into his game he's more than capable of it.
He was amongst our better players Saturday but sometimes the amount of work he gets through and his style of play counts against him. I'm sure he is instructed to take the fullback on and this is always going to result in him losing the ball some of the time but when it comes off it creates a chance. That's the percentage game he plays, but can be seen as "Gooch lost it again". Similarly, he gets on the ball a lot and will therefore make more mistakes, poor touches, bad passes than someone who hides.
Think back to some of his good games. Gooch playing like that would be first name on the sheet but at the moment his lack of consistency doesn't justify it. On paper Clarke, Roberts offer more quality. I'm guessing they aren't fully fit or up to speed yet or they would be starting. Based on this and his lack of progress surely it's time to let him go. Sadly 😢

He's pretty much done here.

A move on saturday summed him up when he burst into the box, second half, had the full back back peddling and then tried umpteen shuffles without ever getting a cross in. The defender easily disposessed him and they broke away upfield. 5 seconds later they are outside our penalty area. He has no pace to recover this situation caused by his own poor decision making.

I can't believe he gets a game ahead of Clarke, Roberts and Dajaku

Not a scapegoat for me, he's been troubled with being inconsistent, but he's past that now. I can't remember the last good game he had. He just doesn't have a footballing brain. I love his passion and effort levels, it's just a shame the skill doesn't match. It would be great if he could leave on a high note, but he simply isn't good enough for us. Makes the wrong decisions time after time, and therefore is our most frustrating player. We've been screaming out for players that care over the years, but Gooch is a prime example how effort and desire is not enough. He's greedy and needs to realise when to release the ball. He's had so much time to learn this, and I'm sure managers have picked up on this and tried to coach him, but there's something in his brain that just won't click.
