Gone off again in... France

I'm against hooliganism when innocent people get hurt, however when its ours versus the others its only natural you want our side to win. I cant understand why some posters seem to want us to lose ?
Plain to see that there was a huge amount of planning went into the Russian attacks just look at the picture of about 100 of them all waiting down a side street with chairs over their backs ready to attack.
Its caught everyone by surprise not least the fans over there, however now everyone knows how they work I'm betting that the remaining ones out there and the new lads going out will be a lot better organised/ stick together and by shear numbers alone the Ruskies wont be getting as much joy.
I have no experience of following England, I've never been to an England match in another country in my life. I do though have plenty of experience of European nights following Man Utd abroad. I've been to literally dozens of European aways over the years.

Firstly there is a world of difference between game lads who stand their ground when confronted and the arseholes that wreck bars and generally behave like twunts with the locals.

It's easy to criticise the lads who will get stuck in when there is bother but these lads actually protect the rest. Travelling abroad is actually a lot safer when you stick together and there is a nucleus of lads that will take no shit.

I'm not saying it's big or clever but when you restrict the lads who will stand their ground from travelling the reality is that you leave the rest far more vulnerable sadly.

I hope the English lads keep their wit's about them and stay sober, my lad is driving ower with his mates, there meeting up with some man city and Wigan lads..keeping me fingers crossed everything goes ok...

Got a good few mates over already who have stuck together and have been fine, still had a good drink but kept in a decent group and have faired okay, should be fine if he has a good group around him.

But as has been discussed, when you get what happened in '92 with those three lads jumping on the Swede's head, or Marseille in '98 when it was organised English mobs kicking off what can you do? You can't really expect the police to say 'well, we'll let them off because they help others out'. They UK can only manage their own fans and it's not unreasonable, especially in a Western European country, to expect the French police to exercise their duty of care to protect other fans rather than sending vigilantes in to do it for them. It's a failure of the authorities and, in my opinion, sending over a load of lads who want a scrap to do their job for them is not the answer.

Will anyone really give a shit if they blast us out of the competition? I'd feel sorry for the people with tickets mind.

The thing is though, our fans would still probsbly stop over there so not quite sure what it would achieve.

I don't disagree with any of that, I'm just saying the reality is that it makes other fans more vulnerable. There is safety in numbers when people stand their ground. Just my experience but it's always been those who have drifted away from the main group that get a good kicking, they are easy targets. When you get a big crowd that will stand their ground it's easy for people to stay behind the game lads and it usually just ends up as posturing anyway. When you are a small number on your own it's easy to get picked off and far more dangerous.

The silence on this from the FA is deafening. Instead they're blaming ordinary fans and allowing innocent kids to go down for a couple of months. Saw footage of the father of one of them earlier today - he was in bits.

Because they've got no power mate. They haven't got a clue what to do, it's easier just to blame our own. It's what we seem to do best.

What a f***ing shambles giving these bastards the world cup 2018. Blatter and co should hang their heads in shame, what an absolute disgrace.

They got their dirty money...and don't give a shit about anyone...Blatter and the fat Frenchman are still living the high life..sickens me to the core, I will never spend another penny again on any international game while Blatter & Platini plus their cronies are still in charge...

They're all spineless at the FA.

what I'm worried about from this lack of defence is the fact that we've been branded as a target by Uefa. Now any organized bunch of dog nonces from other countries can get us thrown out, knowing their side will probably just get a warning.
