Going to the match by yourself.

When I was 14 I ended up going to Oldham away midweek by myself because my mate bottled wagging school, group of lads on the bus noticed and looked after me and took me around the pubs, never alone at a Sunderland game.

Don’t see a problem with it although the people who sit near me on their own look like right miserable bastards - some of them don’t even get out there seat when we score ffs.

Son can't make it & a couple of mates are working.. 1st time I will be going on my Todd. Feels a bit strange.

Anyone else ever been by themselves or am I being an insecure bell end? 😃

Used to drive to sway games on my own.
Driven to a few home on my own.

Would miss my kids going but living 60 miles from Swindon, nobody else is going to support that shite.

Why strange?? What did you do differently to be alone than with people on a matchday today?

What are.you insecurities about been alone??

You feel strange driving to work every day on your own??

Why are you so insecure you have to be around people all the time??

Seek mental health issues help my friend.

Used to go by myself all the time. Never bothered me.

Same. Only reading this thread now has made me consider if it was odd or not

In the days when sold out would drive over on my own and stand outside the ticket office to get a spare. Never failed and always at face value

Been to loads at Roker as a teenager when other mates couldn't go. No problem going to SoL on my own either if I could make it and other mates couldn't.

I am pretty comfortable being on my own though, have done a fair amount of business travel like that and intend to do leisure travel on my own at some point as well, looking forward to that.

This reminds me of my ex father-in-law refusing to go to gigs on his own, on the grounds people might think he's gay

I've gone loads on my own. It's definitely more fun in warmer months though.

I'd be watching them with suspicious eyes for barcode tops. But on a serious note, some people just aren't comfortable with it.

Been to loads on my own due to living away from the North East.
You can still have a good craic, our fan base are generally friendly.
Snap.
Living in Devon means I always go on my todd. Quite like it.
As a kid I used to go to RP on my own most of the time. It was good because I could choose to stand wherever I wanted. Fulwell, Roker, Clock or Paddock. Just used to pick on the day. Fulwell mainly, but Roker as I got a bit older. Happy in my own company.
