God

Are they trying to say that originators of the late Bronze Age deity we just know as "God" got it all wrong ?

That's very hard to believe you woudn't expect that 4,000 years ago the tribal people of the Levant went around just spouting any old susuperstitious nonsense while they were tending to their goats. I am sure that they always employed an entirely scientific approach to such matters and had plenty of emprical evidence to back up everything that they said. I mean if they didn't you would be bloody stupid to believe any of it now.

I love that these priests are ok with the idea of god being a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully. (Thanks Dawkins) But the idea of god having a gender is where they draw the line.

Would it be ok to pop along to the local mosque and tell them that their ‘god’ is imaginary..mightn’t end well.
I wouldn't go to a mosque, church, synagogue or temple and tell the people that their god isn't real. That would be rude.

But on here, and in my general life outside of people's places of worship, I'm perfectly happy to say that the Christian God isn't real, and neither is Allah, Yahweh, Vishnu or any of the rest.

Well you wouldn’t go to a mosque because it may well end in violence towards you..as someone touched on earlier..you kind of realise at some point growing up that the whole religion/god thing is like a path to steer you in the ‘good’ direction in life..the difference seemingly with Christianity and Islam being that you have a choice.

It could happen, but to be fair no Muslim has ever stood on Framwellgate Bridge in Durham and shouted in the faces of me and my date because "we were an abomination unto the Lord". That was a Christian. Conversely I've had quite a few beautiful curries and no proselytizing in Edinburgh Central Mosque.

I repeat: I wouldn't go to a mosque and say their religion is nonsense, for the same reason I wouldn't say it in a church. That reason is that it would be rude. Not because I'm afraid of Muslims.

Church of England says something and two absolute knackers start whinging about how you can’t say owt to Muslims man

Go to a Christian church and tell a vicar or whoever that you think ‘god’ isn’t real..then go to a mosque and do the same..then come back and report the levels of tolerance you receive..just as an experiment like.
