Glazers seeking to sell Man Utd

They aren’t, I don’t think people realise how rich the Saudis are. Their royal family don’t disclose their wealth and they control Saudi Aramco which earlier this year overtook Apple as the most valuable company although Apple may have since overtaken tbf.

They are, a lot richer, its no contest really

I don't regard statements from you as being necessarily truthful.
I bet the Glazers own a massive chunk of the shares. I would not be surprised of they do own the majority.
And the shareholders of Manure (Glazers et all) agree to pay large amounts of their cash to the directors (Glazers) so they are contributing massively to the club's increasing debt.
so the glazers own a lot but its a stock market quoted company..
and the cash that the glazersget is dividends mostly...which go to all shareholders in popoertion to the equity thehy own. if you have a private pension..you may well own some man utd shares in it, and be getting some of those dividends as part of it.
the glazetr family sold 8 per cent of their holding in man utd last year...taking them to 69 per cent

They do own the majority between them:
Joel 17.79%
Darcie 16.9%
Kevin 16.85%
Bryan 16.04%
Edward 15.73%
Avram 13.39%

Those figures may be before they offloaded some last year though….

The Glazers still control around 97% of Manchester United voting rights via the share structure- Manchester United: Billionaire Glazer Family May Sell Team After Years Of Fan Outrage, Reports Say (Forbes)

Institutional investors own a significant amount of the shares although I would assume some of those listed would be Glazer controlled entitles- CNN Business- Manchester United Major Shareholders

The Glazers own the majoroty (70odd%) of the shares and more importantly for them own the Class B shares which gives them the deciding votes over everything. Lock, stock and a smoking Cristiano Ronaldo-less barrel. They are the only entity that own more than 10% of any shares in Manchester United plc. Only Baron Capital who have 9.2% of the entire club (about 38% of voting shares) are significant really.

Shareholders will want the best financial deal. Not the best moral deal nor the deal that is favoured by Norman from Salford.
Glaziers are selling as they've realised they can't get to where they want financially, they're also aware fans want them gone. They'll want the best deal but fans pressure can stop deals happen, just look at Germany and fan pressure pushed government to squash sky deal

Germany is different though isn't it? With the Bundesliga clubs the voting rights are majority fan controlled via the 50+1 rule so as far as I am aware they would have far more say than English club supporters for example.

Saudis have said they are interested in Man United
If they are and they buy Manchester United what's the odds they do it through a different entity, family member or front, push the deal through and keep control of Newcastle United as well? The Royal family and in particular MBS do not strike me3 as people who back down in getting what they want.

Would really put the cat amongst the pigeons this. How can they stop the Saudis from buying Man Utd when they were allowed to buy Newcastle. If they were to be allowed you would then have a massive conflict of interests . Be interesting how the fans would take this. Can’t imagine the scousers or Mancs dressing up like Arabs and dancing in the street

Surely the same people can’t own 2 clubs in the same league?

Depends how they do it tbh...

Going off that Sky interview they are talking about "private" Saudi citizens who legally may not have ties to the Saudi royals and state, but even if those investors are a front it will be difficult to prove the KSA actually control the entities and as we have seen time and again, money talks and the Saudis have more than most to spare.

I agree the fans probably wouldn't be as welcoming as the mags were when they were taken over, but then again will the KSA really be interested in the views of the Mancunian or even English fanbase when the target is to sports wash their regime to a global audience? I hope I'm wrong but I do think if they are serious they stand a good chance of pulling these deals off given the financial and political clout they have.

I have to admit I’m conflicted about this . The Saudis should be nowhere near any of our clubs but it on the other hand , it would piss on the Mag’s chips big time .
