Saw The Glitter Band a couple of months ago... still tight as f*ck and tremendous vocally.

Goodbye my love?
Angel Face?

Saw GG several times in college and once he was backed by the original GB who did a set while he nicked off for a breather. Always an excellent show.

Saw Sweet around that time - Conolly's voice was shot and he had some younguns in the band not priest, Tucker and Scott. They were shite.

Never saw Slade. Shame.

Any of the original line up still with them?
Their use of two drummers, I remember thinking was innovative back them & gave them a distinctive sound. Were they the first pop band to do that?

Booked Sweet back in January 97 for a show in Shields. Connolly didn't know any of the words to his songs. The young lads he had playing with him did most of the singing, too. He was dead less than two weeks later.

Three original members of Glitterband still in the band, incidentally. Springate, Phipps and Spence. The double drum sound still makes the live experience sound as 'fat' as f*ck.

Must have been around 1985 when I saw the glitter band. One acoustic drummer and one with a Simmons kit. The guitarist with the GG style fro (Seago?) played the star guitar on all the slide songs but swapped it for a tele when he needed standard tuning.

Saw them paid off at The Boilermakers, that day the double drum and live experience was more 'what the f*ck'.

Loved Sweet and seen Gary Glitter about 5 times at the Whitley Bay Ice Rink with his "gang" shows.

See the **** now and he'll get a Seaburn sleeper

Saw Slade, Gary Glitter and T. Rex back in 74, and Slade and Glitter in later years and they were still fantastic. Slade were supported by Geordie with Brian Johnson.
Loved The Sweet. Mudd. Bowie (saw him a couple of times but not in the Glam era) Roxy music. Some great cheese at the time as well. Billy dont be a hero, mouldy old dough were a couple. f***ing tie a yellow ribbon, Dross but me ma loved it.
Platforms. Star jumpers. Painted haversacks for school. Great era.
Anyone remember this being on tv ?????

f***ing hell, tell us more about this revelation Greedminds.

My mam and her mates had been out to some night club in Sunderland in teh early 70s and they'd been playing somewhere up here.
Anyway they all piled into their VW Camper and came back to ours for a party.
They were apparently impressed by our stereo.

Canny story that like.

Was a young Mini tucked up in his cot, or toddling around mixing with rocks glitterati?
