Giz your happy random memories of loving living life

1989-1992. I was in the army, single and working with a really great bunch of lads at a brilliant unit. During that time we did two tours of NI and I felt invincible. Great days and better nights.
Although I’ve always had a positive outlook on life and always try to enjoy myself, that time period always stands out for me.

Getting my A-Level results and standing on the balcony upstairs in the Boat House in the sun with a beer.

My first time tasting a schwarma from a place called Jabbar in Romania.

The aftermath of Carlos Edwards v Burnley, 17 and just the right amount of drink taken

Half time against Man City at Wembley

Definitely this. We'd had an all nighter, felt like i hadn't slept in 4 weeks, thr excitement and anxiety of the cup final all culminated at that half time. Couldn't drink anymore, just sat there in the end seat of the sunderland section feeling like an absolute king just smiling at the city fans, knowing in the back of my head this is as good as it gets cos we are about to fuck it up

Walking out of Old Trafford after the league cup semi

The last 10 minutes of the two 0-3’s

The singing after Johnson 0-1 Derby

Watching the sunset on the hill at the top of the park at Glastonbury

Went to my mate's wedding in Poland last summer. The whole weekend was great but bring sat outside a taverna having a drink with my mates as the sun went down over the lake was topper.

This is gonna sound shit but seeing the Tyne bridge after being away from home with the army.
It was the landmark that I used to recognise and gave me a feeling of being where I belong. Single, young, fit and a pocket full of money. Gidddup.

Whizzing down the main runway at Pristina airport in a spartan, under close observation from Russian paratroopers who had occupied the airport, was on a knife edge at the time. The best cigarette ever after that little foray.

Riding my first big motorbike back from Bristol
Riding my first Harley back from Doncaster
Riding down the picos mountains in Spain as the sun was setting
Most nights walking into Ku after a great night already
Last week sitting eating homemade food in a tavern in Anopolis after climb Mont pachnes

Great list.
For me also riding my first big bike, a suzuki gt750 along the a181 to durham. The feeling of absolute power was immense and had a grin from ear to ear.
Did a bit of a road trip with a few mates from norway down to france. Rained everyday but was class.
Not explored the picos really but done santander to algarve a load of times on the harley.
When borini scored at wembley.
Sitting here with a coffee outside our new place in the algarve. So quiet &peaceful.

When I get home from work on a Friday and I get proper gid big loving hugs off my 2 little lads aged 1 and 3. Nothing beats it.

Never thought I’d be the doting dad type after my own upbringing, but that unrequited love is wonderful.
Think I was a bit pissed last night. Don’t think I meant unrequited either :rolleyes:

Nice one, sort of got two gangs of bike mates .Done the road trips from there few times but took a van of enduro bikes down one year.Stayed in Potes and rode the mountains .Met some Spanish lads who were great riders. They would stay in their boots and clobber and go partying in the village .Seemed to go down well with the locals
Bikes just give you that buzz. And sitting in your own world on long trips gets your brain going in a good way, tunes, thoughts, smiles

When you felt everything was perfect.

I'll start...

Getting in Gens for the first time and running up the stairs to join in what everyone talked about.

My dad helping me make my first record box, outside his shed in a hot summer time.

Driving girlfriends around in my Escort RS 2000

Putting on my first pair of 14 holer Dr Martin Boots.

My second buck.

:)

The lass who was your first, also has this as a great memory.
