Give him a chance !!

Helmer
Bridges (Had Phillips and Quinn in front of him mind)
Dichio was in pretty much the same boat as Micky Bridges marra. Tragic about Helmer not working out for whatever reason.

You can't not play a player for not drinking enough surely
It's obvious that he disagreed with how things were done, training wise, marra. Reidy's main downfall was that if you upset him, you were out, without taking into consideration the effect that would have on the team

Fairly certain Helmer barely played for whoever we loaned him to and pretty much retired after that season.

He went to Hertha Berlin on loan and was a regular in the champions league the season he was on loan, but barely played in all competitions and retired as soon as we paid up his contract.

Giaccherini. Barely once played in his natural position, and then slated for being too slow to play on the wing.

A common fate for a Sunderland player. Kieran Richardson was a better attacking midfielder than he was a full back, as is 09 now.

Don't know about O'Nien, cause he's come on leaps and bounds since he last played CM for us, IMHO, marra

Helmer was an oustanding player just didn’t fit into Reid’s and Saxtoms training methods and drinking culture. Left us and still played for a couple of seasons at campions league level IIRC

Correct and agreed.
He was class.
Remember him playing against Arsenal at home in one his rare appearances.
Think we drew 0-0 but he made so many interceptions and his positional sense was superb.
Mental that we saw fit to get rid.
We’d have qualified for Europe if we’d kept him.

Reet , don’t be shy, who do you think didn’t get a fair crack of the whip at Sunderland?

Was Will Buckley that bad ?
Could Sterling have made a difference last season ?
Was Medina ever good enough?
Did O’donavan just need time ?
Rodwell.

He had a falling out with Bobby Saxton didn’t he. Words were said.
