Geordies v mags

Of course. Apologies. 58 likes and counting means people feel strongly about it.

This video though……

It makes me wanna, at the same time, throw up, cry laughing and gouge my eyes out.

What you proud geordies make of this? Guessing similar feelings to me

Edit;

Watched it again and it’s proper child abuse. That lad should be on some kinda register

blokes got form

Can we all start referring to the unwashed as mags.
There is a massive amount of Geordies support Sunderland and it annoys me when people on here refer to the mags as Geordies.
Proud Geordie and proud Sunderland supporter FTM

Quite agree. Where the line begins and ends is unclear though. When a Geordie wears a mag top is he or she still a Geordie or are they a mag? When a Mackem wears a lads top are they similarly a Mackem or are they now a lads fan? And what if they are from South Shields? Are they a Geordie or are they a mag? I get along well with one who comes in on Saturday night. We talk quite openly about the fortunes of each other’s clubs.

I still remember the night of the McFly concert and loved every minute of the entire night. Even when we were travelling to Newcastle to the Wetherspoons opposite. Not once did I feel threatened or in fear because I support Sunderland.

I think our Everton Supporting friend (Scouse Mackem according to the Mags of course) on here coined the term 'Geordie Arabia' would that help??

As an aside, Has any of the Crinklies like me said yet that they recall going to SAFC away matches in the Seventies singing songs like Geordie Aggro and we're Geordies we are mental......................... That was before this Tribal nonsense really kicked in........
Went to away matches from 1976 with travel club , picked up at Central Station half bus was always full of geordie sunderland supporters was always banter with lads from sunderland.

They're much worse for this than us - all their patter is around 'mackems', because a section of their support have some kind of personal vendetta against Sunderland that goes beyond football for no apparent reason.

There's some exceptions for songs, but I think most Sunderland fans would call them mags or something related to the team, as opposed to Geordies.
My preferred term of endearment is black and white twats. Sums them up very well in my humble opinion. I can remember us siging geordies here, geordies there but bin my defence I was much younger, more easily led and pissed up.

I'm from Shields and don't like being called a Geordie now. If people call me a mackem I don't correct them (I used to).

True that. Still think it was tribal between us and them but it was before John Hall invented the geordie nation and keegan turned every plastic man utd or Liverpool supporter into a non attending member of the toon army.

I remember going to Roker Park as a young'un in the 80's and hearing the "...Geordies!..Mackems!..Geordies!...Mackems!" chant and just wonder what the fuss was about

Jawdee Awabians now the fans formerly known as Mags
Mackem, didn't exist 40-50 years ago. You have fallen into the John Hall trap of assuming every Geordie supports Newcastle, when a vast amount of our support are Geordies and always have been, long before the "Mackem" term was used in the yards as a derogatory term.
Not forgetting the none "Mackems" from the Durham villages.
Good post. Townies and takers

MLFs from South of the Tyne River, anyone saying otherwise is lying.
