Me missus worked in Malcolm’s barbers through there. She said all the lads had tattooed on the back of their necks.
    “Born to breed in Gatesheed”
Was it the chandlers estate that was rough.

  7. I went to Gateshead College for my A levels many years ago and was about to laugh at your post. I forgot that the college has now moved. I should really have known as the company I now work for did design work on the new one:oops:.

Central and then Bridge is a very good shout. The Station East over the road from the Central is also decent.

The college has moved? Not on old Durham road anymore like? Christ is been a while since I was along that end then:eek: Did my sparks tickets there many moons ago:lol:

  9. I used to play pool for the Gloucester back in the day (around the late 80's). We used to go to Curly's about 7pm on a Saturday for the fight as there was almost always a punch up in there about that time in the early days of all day drinking. Ironically the pub was named after Curly who was a Gateshead boxer from the early 1900's. Some proper rough pubs around Gateshead high street in those days, but there were some good people around as well.

Its about 2.5 to 3 mile away from the fell.

  11. The old College on Durham road is now houses and apartments. The college is now down near the Tyne where the old Abattoir used to be.

There was also a late bar on Jackson st, used to be known as dazzlers or Bobbys. I think it was officially called Bobbys roundhouse. Was sights to behold in there of a weekend. Was some good pubs though as well, the Gloucester was a favourite of mine. Not sure how many are left now, was a lot of pubs in Gateshead back in the day.

Central is an absolutely tremendous pub. Straight opposite is another, Station East, which is a good un. Then head down to the containers.

  19. This is what I would do, more flange, better music.

  20. Me and my now wife spent many a night in there in the late 80's. If you went there and the Gloucester I probably know you by sight mate. Like I said Gateshead was always rough, but there were some decent people as well and to be honest, I am a working class lad from Leam Lane, if it gets too fancy I feel out of place;)
