Many times and successfully every time. Also whole legs of lamb. Doing the latter as we speak. on an inexpensive charcoal bbq with lid. just takes care and attention which is half the fun.

True, but some folk don't have the skill or inclination, or may be pissed!

:-D

had one of them a couple of years ago...canny it was but forgot to clean it and it rusted to fuck......know one of the owners of tgs

They run a good operation. Their gas prices are actually cheaper than the website shows, I've found. And the delivery people will carry a heavy gas bottle right to your barbie for you. Some people will find that very beneficial.

Dont fanny about, just get an oil drum, cut it in half, make a stand, fill it with charcoal, and cover it with wire mesh. Jobs a goodun.

We've got a double burner gas BBQ with side burner and it's a great little BBQ, despite what some people think it's not actually the gas that cooks the food directly (like an oven hob) there's a heat plate that is heated by the gas and it's heat is transmitted to the food which then drips fat and burns on the hotplate, this adds the real flame/smoke to the taste of the BBQ.

I probably do about 3-4 BBQ's a week from April - October and would never consider going back to coals or earth rocks, far too much hassle for very little gain. Just get a decent gas BBQ with double food tray.

Yep, this is why the earth rock style are hard to find - this new metal "shield" thing is what they are all now.

Been using one all weekend, and I can confirm that it is utter shit.

Just got a gas one for the first time and will be on it in the next half hour.

4 burner for £100, have no idea what I'm doing like so will more than likely blow the house up

Had a lava rock bbq for years. An OUTBACK one. Pig to clean each spring. Got a WEBER one now after the aforesaid collapsed and it was a dream to clean this year.

Once you go gas you never go back.

I miss the man/fire thing but we've got a real fire in the house and a chiminea for my pyro needs.

Well taste wise seemed no different so impressed with gas so far

Test will be in the morning if no one has died
