Gary Neville in Qatar......

Saw it before Xmas and Neville was really good in it. At one point he joins in playing football with some African lads, who are labourers over there, and has a chat with them. finds out that they are going to lose their bond and promptly gets it back for them.

After the story we all read about him giving shelter to the homeless in Manchester a year or two back in one of his old buildings due for renovation after they had originally squatted the lad has something about him. Personally think he is a canny lad and a good pundit.
True and he calls out the dog whistling racist antics of our current government for what it is.

The stadiums, trains etc look really impressive to be fair, hopefully having the world looking at them will pressure them to improve human rights etc.
Still far too small to host a world cup on their own, such a pointless waste of money to build all those outstanding facilities and then them pull them down.
Their attitude to homosexuality is from the dark ages mind and doesn't seem likely to change soon.

Be very interesting to see how the authorities cope with the vast influx of people coming to watch the games.
What do they expect them to do between matches?
Sightsee?

Fortunate to have passed through Doha a few times now and stayed in some pretty fancy places on company expenses. It’s definitely still in its infancy but it’ll be Dubai or more in the coming years.

The human rights issues are abhorrent but
It’s not going to change, the Middle East and Asia have a different outlook on shit like this and if Qatar continues to have gas, nothing will change.

"Shall we go and see the falcons again today lads?"
"Can we do the camel ride again instead?"
"This is much better than the German world cup with all their beer, sausage and brass"

Was very interesting that, the general workers accommodation is nothing as plush as what was shown there, and the death figures are a lot higher than that bloke said, I don't care what is said, those in charge at FIFA at the time had their pockets lined!!
