Got a small veg patch in mine, just planted carrots, beetroot and lettuce so waiting for them to come through.

Bought some acers today and planted them, along with some rock solar lights and tidied up the back garden.

Main problem I have is dandelions in the lawn. What's the best way to get rid of them?

absolutely love it.

dunno if you already have a recipe but I've a brilliant one that's produced marvellous results several years running now...

depending on the size of lawn and how many there are you can either go the organic long way and dig them out using a long pointy trowel then re-seed the bare patches (do it now before they go to seed)

Or you can get lawn weed spray that you just do in the affected patches but then you have got a load of dead dandelions in the lawn which you'll need to cut off / get rid of so you can re-seed.

Or you could go the really long way round and dig the whole thing up and either turf it or reseed it like have.

Been out in my garden since 9 this morning till about 20 minutes ago me knees are shot and me back is killing me.Cant wait for tomorrow night after work to get back in there...Happy days:lol:

I want to grow it too, but it takes two years. Today I planted:

Lettuce - Little gem and Iceburg
Tomatoes
Chillies
Various herbs
Cauliflower
Cabbage
Parsnips
Spring onions
White brocolli
Carrots

what variety mate ? currently I am growing, Cayenne, Jalapeno. Habanero and Birds Eye

Love taking care of the lawn. Struggling at the minute like. Just scarified it, took all the moss out and put seed and sand down but it patchy as fuck like.

Any other gardening I dont like. Got to keep cutting next doors ivy back an all. Keeps growing into the garage. They like a 'natural' garden so that mean ivy sticking to the fence draining it, and also stuff on my garage.

That didnt work:)

Strawberry wine

4lb strawberries
3lb sugar
1tsp acid blend (from winemaking shops, or mix equal parts citric, malic & tartaric acid)
1tsp pectolase enzyme (also from winemaking shops)
1tsp tannin (or if you're a cheapskate like me, 1 cup cold stewed tea)
1tsp wine yeast and 1tsp yeast nutrient
8 pts water

wash strawberries and put in sterilised plastic bucket - either mash with a potato masher or if you're lazy like I am use a hand-mixer. Dissolve sugar in a kettleful of boiling water, make up to 4pints and pour over strawberry mash. Stir in pectolase.

leave for 24-36 hours then strain through muslin/close sieve/old clean teatowel and put into demijohn. Put pulp back into bucket and add remaining 4pts water, then strain this too and add to demijohn.

Add acids/tannin/yeast/nutrient, fit airlock and ferment out in a dark place (or if not, then cover the demijohn or the wine loses its pink colour)

When stops fermenting and starts to clear, syphon into sterilised demijohn and add 1 crushed campden tablet, shake well and leave to clear for a couple of weeks, usually clears itself quite well and doesn't need filtering.

Bottle in dark bottles and store in a dark place.

I calculated the %ABV of the last batches and it came in anywhere between 12% and 14%
