Fullbacks staying wide

Nice change having proper full backs offering width as opposed to playing inverted, clogging up the centre and allowing opposition to double up on our best attacking threats in Clarke and Roberts.

Not massive tactical changes today but noticed Hume wasn’t playing that daft role going forward into central midfield. Much better having them overlap roberts and clarke
When we have 2 sitting mids, the fullbacks stay wide
When Neil pushes forward, one of the fullbacks fills in.

That's been the system of late

Second half was great to see us play more variety of balls into the box. Some speed going forward again too. The overlapping fullbacks certainly helped that

Definitely Mowbray biggest downfall imo. Main reason I wasn’t surprised or disappointed when he was sacked. Been clear as day that it’s not working. Last season we had Amad, Roberts and Hume all torturing teams down the right and this season we’ve asked Roberts to do everything himself while he’s out of form.

Thing is, guardiola does it and he’s one of the best tacticians in the game. He knows exactly why he wants to do it and what the downsides will be. Anyone else is plain copying and they’ve nowhere near the tactical knowledge guardiola has.

Crazy decision and should have been binned way earlier in the season.

Stops Robert’s and Clarke getting doubled up on as much . Makes a hell of a difference.
