From bride to bridesmaid: thread about Dodds.

What did they win?

Nee idea. You didn't say they had to win something - you said "worked". He made them better - which I take as "worked".

See if you can argue with this one then...

In Germany, On 3 November 2019, Niko Kovač left Bayern Munich by mutual consent after a 5–1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt, his assistant Hansi Flick, promoted as interim coach. In his first match in charge, Bayern defeated Olympiakos 2–0 in the UEFA Champions League group stage on 6 November 2019. In April 2020, Bayern Munich appointed Flick as permanent coach with a contract until 2023. Flick successfully guided Bayern to win the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and UEFA Champions League, thus completing the continental treble for the second time in the club's history, the following season, he led Bayern to win the 2020 UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla.[10] He also led Bayern to win its first ever sextuple after winning Club World Cup in February 2021 by defeating Mexican team Tigres.[11]

He’s done brilliantly so far but should we even be considering a permanent appointment with only 4 games experience as a head coach. From what I’ve seen I like him a lot but experience is quite important in any role.
roy keabne had fewer than four games experience as head coach when he got it..

Kieran McKenna had no experience as a head coach when he got the ipswich job..
Surprised to hear that as it was him who took most of the senior training under Mowbray
he becmae first team coach under mowbray didnt he..prior to that was player dveelopment coaxch

Love the fact I’ve got you googling all day, if I say dance will you dance?

Dodds in, TBH. Fuck it. There's something to be said about someone who intimately knows the squad and system and the players strengths and weaknesses.

Demote him later if it doesn't work out.

He has been in charge for 4 matches. 2 of which provided performances and results that were as horrific as any in the 130+ year history of Sunderland AFC. 2 of which provided performances and results that were much better than in previous weeks. Credit where credit is due for the past 2 weeks, but I’d want a longer trial and consistent improvement before I’d be giving him the role permanently.

Might take you all day to mash "caretaker manager" into google, but not me marra.

Nowt worse than someone who's unable to admit they're wrong about a really small thing. it's like talking to a 9 year old.

Sound like you have experience of it

Can’t see a new Head Coach being appointed this side of Christmas meself like. Forget the word “Manager”. There will not be a manager under the current owner.

Dodds has a genuine chance to cement his application for the post if he wants to take it on.

5 winnable games in the next 18 days. Hull probably the trickiest.

16 Dec - Bristol City (A)

23 Dec - Coventry (H)

26 Dec - Hull (A)

29 Dec - Rotherham (A)

Jan 01 - PNE (H)

I wouldn’t dare suggest 7 wins in a row but… :cool::p:D

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

I'm happy with 6 wins in a row.;)

John Carver (best coach in the world) says hold my beer ...

BTW someone (wasn't me) edited his wikipedia page to Sunderland Manager from 2023.
Be that weirdo that’s spent his whole day on Wikipedia looking for caretaker managers who have been a success
