Friend

He was poor but we really should not be letting the team off the hook here.
We shouldn't be letting Friend off the hook either.

Someone from the club should go public about him, even if it means a fine, to make sure we don't get him again, to make sure he never disgraces the nation at a UEFA or FIFA event (like Poll did), and as a warning to other match officials who find the journey to the North East a little too onerous.

Exactly, us being shit doesn't excuse his usual incompetence

That's not the point though. Regardless of how shit we are it doesn't let the useless prick friend off the hook ffs

Marginal?

WTf

It's either offside or onside ffs
He's way down the list for me. Did he make Fletcher take an age to have a shot? Did he make Johnson give the ball away the way he did for the second goal? Did he make Billy Jones slice every pass he made? Did he make Bridcutt and Larsson completely unable to battle with League 1 players in Centre Mid? Did he make Wickham a complete lumbering fairy?

Aye he was/is shite but berating Friend for this is an excuse and lets too many cowards off the hook.

No but that's not what in saying

Everything you are saying is correct. The point of this f***ing thread is how shit friend was. He should never never ever referee a Sunderland game ever again

Ah reet. I just think our problems lie closer to home than Kevin Friend.
Again. That's not what I said. Just because our team was shite doesn't excuse friend from criticism.

18 of our Premier League matches he's reffed, we've lost lost 10. He's shown 6 red cards in those 18 games, 5 of them to Sunderland players
Here you are Greek this is what I'm on about.

He's a useless biased prick

He's a useless biased prick

Bishop and Confucius have this spot on, and from what I heard of the Gus interview there are concerns at the club about this biased gonk. I would be very interested to see detailed stats for all his performances, I'm sure this has been brought up before with a more detailed analysis. What concerns me is whether his SAFC stats are out of step with those of any other club that he's reffed. How do his stats compare with those of other refs for SAFC matches. A quick google only produced aggregated stats for ref performances about the basic number of cards, it's hard to believe in this age that there aren't detailed stats available to allow analysis and that the FA/Premier League wouldn't be interested in ensuring the officials in which they place trust are fit and proper to officiate the professional game. Is there any site out there that allows customised queries of ref stats by club/manager to highlight number of cards for/against and win/draw/loss?

Sounds like we weren't good enough today but the influence of an official should not be underestimated.

http://www.worldfootball.net/referee_summary/andre-marriner/sunderland-afc/4/

You can select record by team and click on appearances and it gives you results and cards etc

In a game on a shite pitch we needed correct blatant decisions and certainly not shite own goals after 3 minutes. We were still shit but we had no breaks today.
The way they have been playing lately it looks like Gus has lost the dressing room unfortunately as they don't listen to how he wants them to play, these are the players who at the beginning of the season passed it around no problem and created odd chances now we don't create anything and give the ball away

I was perfectly in line with the Fletcher chance. There was a Bradford defender on his arse near the goal line. He was well onside. The fact he had the ball bang centre of the goal about 8 yards out and couldn't get a shot away in the 2 or 3 seconds he was in posession is unforgivable.
