Freedom of Information Requests

Anybody ever made one?

How did you get on?

Are they able to include personal details - such as the person at a company responsible for something?

I've seen some with addresses and phone numbers - but I'd like to have one that includes email addresses?

Vague, I know.

FOI is only applicable to public bodies/organisations.

If it is a private company they may well tell to do one.

If public they are unlikely to reveal personal details unless already in the public domain

It's to do with commercial vehicle licensing - so all the information is already available through the Traffic Commissioner.

When a public application is made you get name, company, address, phone number and number of licenses they've applied for.

I want their email address too. Do you think this could be likely - as they'll have it recorded and doesn't seem any more sensitive than the information publicly available.

I would imagine this wouldnt meet the threshold for non-disclosure.

I have to deal with a load of these and non-disclosure criteria is difficult to meet.

Email with a persons name in it is classed as confidential data.

There are only a number of reasons you’d want it and none of them would be to say well done for having the correct licenses I assume.

No chance then. Just contact the company via their website and ask them

if it was traffic commissioner staff you might have got it but they wont release someone elses details from an application

Not sure if I'm explaining what I want clearly.

This is what is published every week.

I would like further information on the applicant - ie the email address.

This is what has been released under FOI before.

I would like a few more details to be included - applicant listed against company, contact details for that person, number of licenses they have, license status, type of licenses etc

Any idea is that is possible when you see what is already publicly available?

Email addresses in those circumstances would be classed as personal information and would not be disclosable. The data is not TC's to disclose

As a comparison would you be happy if you had applied for planning permission for an extension on your house and council gave out your telephone number and email address to anyone that enquired?

That would be personal.

This is work related.

But I get your point.
