a few colleges have banned it Burnley was a major one to do it particually with a huge muslim community in the town. Never noticed anyone wearing one when I went there 10 years ago but seems to be a huge rise in them recently.

It has nothing to do with their religion just their culture

Is just the asian 'hoodie'

More the Asian bra.

Some western girls will go topless, some won't. The girls that do are happy about it (I presume). The girls that don't go topless wear bikini tops to protect their modesty (again, their choice). This isn't dissimilar to the Asian girls' reasoning. Many choose to to wear the hijab/burka/niqab etc because they don't like their hair (and face) to be on show.

Well what about for womens rights in the UK? why should she not be identified? women have femininity and individuality. Why should those goto waste?
Having a conversation with someone wearing a Burkha is not a easy task.

She has all the rights that any other woman has, the right not to wear it. Why do you want to see her face? have you ever had a conversation with someone wearing a burkha? and did she knock you back?

It's a twisted version of modesty. I hate the things, they oppress women and that can't be good and they're also quite a modern thing in the West.
I see Asian girls wearing headscarves all the time here in Bradford, it's pretty and modest.
I cover my hair either with a scarf or a hat when I enter any place of worship, when I go to my hubby's church I wouldn't dream of not being modest.
Having said all of that banning things is never a good idea it makes martyrs ( pardon the pun) of people and gives them another reason to protest.
Having said all of that again I'm all for a ban on baseball caps on any bloke over the age of twenty who isn't American

cant see the problem with people wearing the burka as long as its not forced upon them and they take it off if it becomes a security issue.

You see, the f***ing stunk as well bit just adds to the impression that you just don't like 'them' rather than because of any practicalities. That said, she may well have stunk.

Ever talked to a hair lipped, cleft pallated drunk in zipped up parka?

Also, would you understand an un-burkha'd french woman?

Thread is about should we ban it, not about understanding an un-burkha'd french woman

We'd sashay'd off into personal hygiene so I thought I'd ask that question. I was being facetious.

I'm glad you're keeping a weather eye open for digression though, we can't have any of that.

If someone wants to dress up like a tool then that is their perogative. Providing they remove it for the purposes or identification and security then the only people with a beef about it are bigoted cretins like WHED Lionheart.

All the Koran requires is that both genders dress modestly. But the misogynistic clergy defies the Koran text and distorts the reputed sayings (hadith) of the Prophet Muhammad (recorded over 250 years after his death) to elevate an archaic pre-Islamic convention into a contemporary religious imperative.

Hadith-way and Shiite!

Brilliant. Let's tie up police man-hours essentially arresting women who wear the wrong kind of hat.

It's a pressing issue, and no mistake.

:lol::lol: Nearly woke up my lodger, laughing at that one! :-D

They have not banned the burka as that would be Creedist. Thay have ma\de the covering of the face illegal in France. One law for everyone. Tres tres egalitaire n'est pas ?

They have no religious significants and are worn by suppressed women to show respect to there husbands

Ban them now!!!!
