Fortune tellers, clairvoyants

That applies to my nana and granda. She had a bad leg as long as I could remember and I cherish me grandas war medals and only wear his gold watch on special occasions.

I dare say other posters could tell the medium her story fits too.....

I know that..but the watch bit is weird because it was actually given to us up the crematorium..it was such a random thing for the medium to come out with.

I’ve seen one brilliant one and a few absolute chancers. Jane was tremendous, blokes are sceptical and I know of a couple of lads that turned up at her house to do repairs and left shaken by her accuracy. One refused to go back to finish the job as she told him things no one else could know other than him and the departed.

The wife’s auntie did it (told your fortune :D) for a few years, I have to admit she was very good like, started doing her family and friends – for free. As word spread she started to charge, took off big time from there and after a while she stopped thinking the tax man would be after her (maybe she foretold it).

She told us she had guides in the spirit world that helped her.

It was 20 odd years ago or more now and she has been dead for quite a while. She was called Jane but usually got Jenny.

Do you want to say where you seen her @zippie ? She did it from her house not far off barnes park.

Mentioned this before it's a true story.
'Bout 16 years ago I was in the Harefield Hospital with lung cancer about to half a lung removed.
The tumour had wrapped itself round an artery and I wasn't being given much of a chance.
The night before the op a fellow patient approached my bed at around 10 ish and said,
'Don't worry mate they're all around you,'
'You what'' I responded
He then named my dead twin sister, a couple of aunts and uncles, my Mum and a two great aunts.
I'd never met this bloke before, I'm 70 miles from where I was living at the time and my family are from Hebburn and Sunderland.
'Yeah,' he says 'They just want you not to worry, that you'll be fine, it's not your time yet.'
He reckoned he was a coach driver, and a medium, just had the gift and wanted to let me know.
No way could he have known the details of my family.
As you can tell I did survive the op and to go on to tell this absolutely true tale.

I've kept an open mind since then.
Kept a open mind?. If that happened to me the way you said it did I would be a true believer. Shouting it from the roof tops.
I had an aunt who said she was a medium, she was very intuitive, had had a hard life herself so was also very empathetic. She did readings (is that what they are called), but never charged, didn't do it professionally. Do I believe? no I don't think so.

I don’t have a problem with those spiritualist churches who let’s be honest only charge a couple of quid to attend. Wether you are a believer or not I dont see any harm in what are mostly middle aged or elderly people in attendance. It gives them some hope and a feeling that some day they will see their long lost relatives, fiends, partners and unfortunately children. This comfort for a couple of quid while also getting out of the house to socialise is all good in my book. I personally believe their is something beyond this life and my way of thinking is of that is true then great, and if not then you wouldn’t know any how’s.

I agree with that that. As long as vulnerable people aren't being scammed out of large amounts of money then there's no harm done. If it gives a bit of hope and comfort to those who need it then that's great.

I do wonder if there is a spectrum between, and this may be the wrong language, people who are really fixed and those who are like your aunt, capable of advanced empathy and who can be very intuitive.
I'm aware that some psychotherapists and counsellors are very skilled at picking up clues about people that may not be disclosed or available to most folks. Advanced empathy some describe it as.
In my case though, the coach driver knowing the names of my dead relatives was and is beyond such rational explanation.

The wifes going to see one next week. Im a typical bloke, who thinks its a load of shite. Told her to cancel it but shes having non of it.

Any blokes take this shite as gospel? If so, pull yourself together ffs.

We know all women are believer's
It must be a great place to pick up lasses who’s blokes are non believers.

Clairvoyant nights - in

Yes I believe it is also an absolute load of shite and a professional con.

Fortune tellers and mediums use a technique of cold reading to make clever observations about people, and use very broad guesses or easy assumptions to give the impression of hidden knowledge.

Imagine if they were real.

Every single business would have one, they'd be whole clairvoyant departments, head hunting of the best fortune tellers.

They'd be studies and protocols of how to get the best connections to the "other side" how to make the process more efficient and less wishy-washy. Contacting dead people to ask who murdered them, have them take the stand.

But instead we got Janice from two doors down having 4 lasses squeeze onto her couch while she flips cards over on her Argos coffee table.

But people still part with their money……
Just about to post this.

Vulnerable people looking for answers/closure.

Arseholes of the highest order.
^^^ This.

Nothing better than thieves.

We had a supposed medium in the family who saw dead folk as a child.

In truth there have been medium movements which take advantage of events like wars and disasters. People will alway's believe in 'something else' irrespective of religion and mediums will always meet that demand.

Doesn't sound very inviting to me.

Not a personal experience but an elderly lady once told me that she attended a private sitting and the psychic told her that she had three children and one was a boy called David. The lady had two grown up daughters but had had a baby when she was a teenager and was persuaded by her parents to give it up for adoption. She had chosen the name David.

There used to be one down Grangetown called Mrs Emery she did readings from her house me and my brother went down, never seen so many tubs of quality street and bottles of brandy.

She was about 90 gave the usual reading your gonna have your heartbroken crack then when she was doing my brothers reading she told me to go and get her washing off the line, close her kitchen curtains and wait in the car 🤣

Everything in the universe is a deal, otherwise seesaws wouldn't work. Tell someone a lie for the purpose of personal gain, and chaos will at some time kick you in the bollocks. If you con people for 50 years and think you're the winner, you should consider the fact that your inevitable death is not the end of your existence, but maybe just the start of an eternity in a hell of your own making.

Be careful out there...be good maths.
