Forthcoming gigs.

Liverpudlian Edgar 'Summertyme' Jones plays Cluny 2 on 28th April. Hoping to make it there. The Stairs made one of my favourite ever albums (Mexican R 'n' B) and I've been catching up on his solo career courtesy of a 3CD set that came out couple of years back. Apparently he fell on hard times a few years back but he's got many great songs so I would like to see him get more success.

Got Florence and the machine at Leeds direct arena on Saturday buzzing. What's parking like around there any good places for food etc?.

Never seen him but always liked Lloyd Coles voice and I love Edinburgh .
Tickets to see him at Usher Hall go on sale on Friday -might see if I can get a couple -the gig is on a weekend ( not a “lost” one !) so perfect for an overnight stay

Life tonight at Pop Recs
We're really lucky these days to have small independent venues like PopRecs putting on good gigs like this, on our doorsteps. I do wish their marketing was less 'underground' mind. I miss knowing about half the things they put on unless I take it upon myself to search for stuff. A simple email list to sign up to would be a good start.

Anyway, looking forward to tonight, should be a cracker.

Had tickets to see them when they played Independent about 18 month ago but couldn't make it. Fancy it tonight but don't know if I'll have time. Will see how the day goes.

Dutch Uncles and Titus Androgynous are another couple I fancy there, although I've not really listened to them in ages so will have to see what they've been up to.
Placebo in Newcastle rescheduled for 7th June :)
My mate can't make the rescheduled date so I think we're going instead. I've not been to the City Hall for a gig.

I’ve been a regular gig goer for 20 years now & Sunderland has never had such a good scene. Pop Recs seem to be passionate about getting a certain type of band, same as the Peacock too. It helps its people who were/are in bands are running it. Then the Fire Station is getting a mix of the lot. The Damned, John Cooper Clark, to Comedians, tributes to Blondie & Bob Marley to other types of shows I’ve got no interest in.

Independent chips in, but to think 3/4 years ago they were the only one & they’re way behind the other 3 for consistency now

Aye the music scene in the whole North East is class atm, l Newcastle is getting better, trillians has stacks of rock bands on, the globe, bobiks and there's a couple of more places near the cluny. Stockton have a few venues now putting plenty of gigs on. Rather stop in sunderland mind. Now in my 43rd year now of gigging 😁

Love it when I've come out the Fire Station and can just walk home rather than faffing on with getting back from through there.

There's a Wetherspoons next door. Wish the Leeds direct arena was in the North East. It's a great venue.
It is. I rarely do arena gigs but after seeing The Cure there I said to my mates that if given the choice of Newcastle arena or Leeds I'd choose Leeds, even though it's a lot further away.
