Form, Confidence, The Pitch, The Crowd

This thread is degenerating. Some people on here heard booing, some heard players getting stick. I don’t think it’s reasonable for anyone to say there was no booing and nobody got on the players backs. I’ve never booed a Sunderland player or a performance, it doesn’t help, and I don’t think any player is just shit. Some aren’t good enough consistently for where we want to be. I think gooch is one of these, he’s capable of match winning performances but doesn’t do it consistently and his all round play isn’t good enough but he’s not “just shit”.

Are you a season ticket holder?

Blaming the crowd when the atmosphere was as good as it’s been all season

Ffs nearly 40k league one that is absurd.
Incredible really is.

Our lot another crowd over 10k again. Hard to believe we’ve only won 3 games at home in the league all season.
Evidently around a creditable 6th place in both lower leagues on average home attendances this season behind the big clubs, Sunderland, Wednesday, Charlton and Pompey etc Only Bradford in our league boasts a higher one with discounted season tickets.
Can only hope it’s the basis to get going once we’ve settled our outstanding Court room issues.
Decent support for the mighty Swindon considering the shit home performances.

On my stream the crowd were in full voice supporting throughout. They boo’s at ht/ft but what do they expect.

Ah just realised you're another new poster.

Funny that the two posters having a pop at the support are new to the forum. Absolutely mad that you still bother with us tbf.
Mate, what’s the point? Are u saying all new posters are mags? How am I having a pop at the support? If u have something to add then go ahead, happy to consider your view, but just making mag accusations adds nothing.

Answer my question u mag bastard

No, I live and work in south london, go to home and away when I can. Why? Am I not allowed to be a fan if I’m not a ST holder? Poor argument mate
You are someone who rarely goes to home games. Well let me say that today we have had a higher percentage than normal amount of people slagging the home support off.

This board slag players off for no reason quite often but the fans in the stadium are supportive and rarely negative. Don't let the tossers on this board represent match going fans

No I'm not. But on a day when the crowd turn up in numbers, offer incredible support, whilst the players just stand there doing nowr and you cite the fans as part the problem you (which you did) you have to ask why.

Watching the game today, it looked to me that these are the factors contributing to our recent performances.

Form - too many players hitting a bad run. From back to front Hoffman looks nervous, Doyle's form has dropped off, Winchester was great early season, now mediocre. Same for Neil. Evans is steady but never stands out even when at the top of his game, which he isn't at the moment. Gooch wasn't bad today, he got through some work but he just isn't consistent enough. Embleton is very talented but cannot turn that into performances. Stewart had a poor game by his standards today. Cirkin was ok, Pritchard worked his ass off and has real quality but you are never going to do well with 7-8 players out of form.

Confidence - we started today well on top and conceded against the run of play. Immediately our confidence went and we can't pass, tackle, trap a ball, clear our lines.

The pitch - state of it doesn't suit our players. Yes, I know it's the same for both sides but we have a team who want to pass the ball along the ground quickly. Our pitch stops this and makes running with the ball difficult too. The opposition tend to play football better suited to our pitch. We have the best quality squad in this division but the uneven pitch levels the playing field. 4 players in the squad who top teams have paid circa £10m for each. But they need a proper pitch to play on.

The Crowd - get on the players' backs when we aren't performing. This feeds into the confidence and it becomes a whirlpool of decline. Sometimes it goes the way and the crowd can visibly lift the team. It's up to the players how they react.

😂

We were with the players for far too long if anything. That first half was the worst I have ever seen. They literally gave the near 40k of us nothing to shout about. It was a f***ing disgrace and they don’t deserve that level of support. Them and you can fuck off
