Forget Lincoln

Imagine Lincoln in the championship man.

think Wycombe have done bad

Lincoln had 37 seasons in the 2nd Tier before the 1960's and were founder members of it along with Ardwick (Man City) Small Heath (Birmingham) and Sheff Utd. The following season Liverpool, (Woolwich) Arsenal and Newcastle were in it.

So if The Imps do get promoted this season, one could argue that they are back at their natural level/spiritual home ?

There’s your Achilles heel for us ‘a decent run’ we are incapable of that ! Guaranteed to take a backward step when we take two forward
Agree, but not impossible. In many of our poor results we have on balance of play deserved more. So frustrating in many ways, so close yet so far.

I just don't agree with the negativity that it's beyond the realms of possibility.

We’ll be trying to scrape 6th. Then get arse fucked against anyone else in the playoffs

That's the spirit Plankster.

One could. And one would be wrong. Nice try though bud.

It’s being honest and realistic given the mental ‘strength’ of this group not negative

Well based on that theory Sunderland were 6 times champions of England by the end of the 1940 s so our spiritual home is the old division 1 .
And let’s be honest we are miles away from it .

so one could argue you are talking complete piffle .

Your spiritual home is the top flight, and judging by most of the contributors on here, none of them will be satisfied till you are?

To put The Imps in the same bracket as Wycombe is plain ignorance.

Given your resources you are doing very well. fair play to you.

I wish SAFC had made some of the managerial appointments you have had in recent years.

Ok then.
Try to come to terms with the positivity that it IS beyond the realms.

But didn’t Sunderland have the chance to appoint Danny Cowley but bizarrely chose to appoint a muppet like Lee Johnson.
The Cowleys would have virtually guaranteed promotion and the future woukd have been rosy. As it is Ipswich will reap the rewards once they sack Lambert.

Spot on.

I could imagine the two interviews...one would have been bluffed whilst the other would have given an honest assessment of our squad.

Sadly we went with the bluffer.

Massive opportunity missed and whilst I really hope Im wrong regarding Johnson everything i have seen so far tells me Im not.

The only way to make sense of a table with the disparity between games is PPG

1) Doncaster 2.09
2) Lincoln 2.00
----------------------
3) Hull 1.85
4) Peterbro 1.84
5) Portsmouth 1.80
6) Accrington 1.78
----------------------
7) Sunderland 1.64
8) Ipswich 1.63
9) Charlton 1.59
10) Oxford 1.54

Of course it's possible, the whole division is dreadful with no team dominating or being consistent. A decent run by any of too ten will see promotion.

Eh? Doncaster are averaging above the standard 2 pts per game. They are very consistent - last 12 games since they played us they have 10 wins, 2 losses. No draws!!!!!! They've lost Ben Whiteman to Preston, but have been busy in Jan with 6 coming in.

No true fan gives up hope while there's an outside chance, but auto promotion will be very difficult from where we are - it would take a Keane-esque run. The chance of making the playoffs is still good Imo, we need to end the season in good form.

Isn't it interesting that we shit ourselves about games in hand but they're a positive for other clubs.

I’m a firm believer that when you was battling with us for promotion, the fact we didn’t call games off for international call ups and just on with it, helped us towards the end of the season, because we didn’t have the fixture congestion you did, the style of play we used that season was energy sapping. Having only one game a week when others were playing twice, helped us big time at the business end of the season.

You're probably right mate, but it was flapped at last season as well. I just find it interesting, if we were having win after win it wouldn't be an issue but it's the negative outlook I suppose.

Lincoln are doing brilliantly. I have a mate who's a Lincoln fan and pleased for him. Clearly I dont want you doing well at our expense but if we arent good enough to go up again then thats down to us. I can't get away with the small element of our fanbase the look down their noses at other clubs and think of us as much bigger then we actually are but its not the majority by a long chalk. Good luck for the rest of the season.

I agree - We would have a really good chance if we were on the same PPG now as we were when Parky was sacked - we would be right in touch ;)
