I find the cheapest way is to use a cashpoints wherever you are going, providing your bank doesnt charge you like.
 
if your near canary wharf these days then ACFX next to waitrose for dollars and euros by far.

just turn up and ask for the online rate. they'll give you online rate and round your money up.

i was gonna get one of those pre-paid debit card thingys....but daint nar if it will be worth it coz on me hols i'll only be going back and forwards to the bar, so might just take cash instead
 
get the minimum amount you need changed in the Uk then take cash and get it changed when you get there - always a much better rate

in some places. I use cashpoints or take some sterling but its a case by case choice.

I knwo when I've been in poland and other eastern european places that is indeed the cas what your saying.. they little booths at the back of shops do great rates
 
Got ours from Sainsbury's, we had a £5 off voucher, mind if we'd shopped around for the amount we were getting we'd have used up more money on petrol than we would have saved.
