For Those Wanting Allardyce

I like Allardyce, doesn't pander to the fans or the media. Very straight talking and just gets on with the job, which is putting out strong, hard to beat, physical sides...the football might be shite (WHU looked good at times this year), but I think we'd be safe enough next year.

My preference would still be Advocaat.
Like it or not. Alardyce's match day comments will annoy a fair amount of our support imo.

West Ham have been safe for yonks wish we had that luxury

47 points yea I wouldn't tak that

Beggars belief Hank, Big Sam got them comfortable mid-table candidates and took Bolton to Europe and we think we're too good for him. Christ.

Myth. Big Sam can get teams playing football but his first job is always to sort the defence out and stop conceding goals, as the saying goes about houses and foundations.

I agree, but he doesn't pander to the fans and says what he thinks, not too dissimilar to Advocaat and O'Neill to some degree. I guess Allardyce doesn't get away with it as much, as there's nothing to be lost to translation - a la Gus!

POMO. Kevin Nolan. Mark Curtis. No chance of young players coming through.

Load of shite. Steer clear.

Pros and cons though. His approach is functional, but brings safety. We've had too many who talk a good game but have no idea how to implement it.

And what happens after? A team of ageing players on big wages schooled only in agricultural football. Any green shoots from the academy long since snuffed out. Allardyce would be terrible for our medium-long term prospects IMO.

I don't like Allardyce, always moaning post match. West Ham fans I know really dislike him
Does anyone really care about that if we get the results and be safe by January? Really? Poyet was a class moaner, but no one cared when we were doing fine. Another moaner just won he League this season. If he keeps us mid table, I couldn't care less about his personality.

It's a problem I highlighted upthread. Where Allardyce leaves a team tends to be the high point. Could he be convinced to work with a DoF whose remit is to plan for when he goes? As I said, I wouldn't be against it as long as we all knew where we stood from the start.

Unlike Advocaat, who promoted so many kids, right?

Plenty of concerns there too. Really disappointed that he chose an injured Graham and Catts who was never going to play over a couple of young lads. At least DA talked about a desire to bring through young players at SAFC, though, and has done so at previous clubs. Allardyce has never really shown any interest in the development of youth at any point in his career as far as I can recall.

He is rather known for spending a lot of money.

Big Sam would rather manage a championship side than work under a director of football.

That's a fact.

It's not & never was going to happen.
