For Those Wanting Allardyce

You want a professionally run club you don't want him. On away games he stays up and gets pissed with staff and senior players the night before a game. Would be a disaster for us.

elaborate. why not?

I think hes a good option in sense that its no nonsense football that would suit the current squad.

But will not happen as hes shafted us before by verbally accepting the job then went back on his word and the big one that he demands total control and wouldn't work in a DoF type system.

It would be that bad to finish top 12 comfortably?

I doubt we would. It wouldn't be long before we're back to square one. He's not exactly renowned for bringing in youth is he?

Did Blackburn finish 10th in his last season there?

In two minds on this. Yes he would likely keep us up comfortably but he seems unable recently to take the step up to challenging for UEFA places which ultimately is the realistic goal for all the clubs like us.

The football wouldn't be pretty a lot of the time but it would be more effective than we're used to. There's also the question of what happens when expectation exceeds achievement and it goes sour - teams don't progress from where he leaves them. Would he work under a DoF? Has he ever said he wouldn't, don't recall.

I'd rather look abroad.

Me too, but as good as we are at rolling the dice with a sacking we're equally as bad at appointing them in the first place. Allardyce fills what appears to be our driving imperative - he doesn't take teams down.
