Football shirts

Does anyone else agree with me the wearing of football shirts at international cricket matches is a farce?

Can people who are football fans really not attend a different sports event without wearing a football shirt? I’ve asked a number who do it and they just don’t understand the question, in particular when I ask them if they wear a cricket shirt from time to time going to a football match. Arrogance about football being the only sport imho sadly…and ignorance that wearing a football shirt is the only thing you should do.

I’d prefer it if they wore an England shirt but I don’t get as annoyed about it as you do. It’s probably nothing more than people showing pride in where they come from.

Not international level but I wore a Sunderland shirt when watching Durham down at Kidderminster a couple of years ago and I also wore one at the Cheltenham cricket festival last summer.

Never really occurred to me that I should have the right to have an opinion on other's dress sense.
Presumably they choose sporting attire for a sport's event and haven't got cricket colours.

I wear football shirts to the cricket like I wear them to go to the shop or to the pub. They are just part of my normal wardrobe. I wear cricket shirts in the same manner.

I do sort of get the type of people you mean though Mr Monkey. There are people who feel like they have to wear their football shirt so the can be identified as a fan of that side for whatever reason. It’s always been a thing at music festivals I’ve found too.

While it's not something I would do, is it not them representing the area they come from and being proud of that. I don't believe it's a even a team thing or a rivalry thing that they need to show off who they support as most cricket supporters who also follow football tend to mix well. If I spot a Sunderland shirt at an England game on the TV I'm always looking to see if I recognise them.
Cricket shirts for the most part are a pretty new thing and as others have said it's not part of peoples wardrobe.
