Football isnt diverse enough according to stormzy

The managerial merry-go-round is definitely all about ability and the 'best rising to the top', it isn't at all a closed shop where certain parts of society aren't getting a look in to begin with, no matter their ability.

I would hazard a guess that around half of the FL clubs have appointed a black manager over the last decade so there’s little mileage in calling any of these institutionally racist. Therefore there must be another obvious reason why these same clubs haven’t taken a punt on Sol Campbell. Perhaps the fact he’s an absolute bellend?

Simon Jordan was once criticised at Palace for not interviewing any black people for the vacant managers job. “It would help if any actually applied” was his response.

He joined in with the Sky pundits after a game one time, was the first I heard of him and dont intend to be learning anymore.

You’d like to think he was wrong but when supporters are gleefully sharing terrace songs that make crude and stereotyped references to black genitalia it’s hard to put up a really robust argument about diversity and inclusion in the game.

So how would they even Know that info ? or companies have openly gave them that info by saying that they would be less likely to offer an interview or job to a non-British sounding person/name. Yeah right

British citizens from ethnic minority backgrounds have to send, on average, 60% more job applications to get a positive response from employers compared to their white counterparts, according to researchers at Nuffield College's Centre for Social Investigation (CSI).

They sent around 3,200 fake job applications for both manual and non-manual jobs - including chefs, shop assistants, accountants and software engineers - in response to adverts on a popular recruitment site between November 2016 and December 2017.

All of the fictitious candidates were British citizens, or had moved to the UK by the age of six, and had identical CVs, covering letters and years of experience.

The only thing that they changed was the applicant's name, which they based on their ethnic background.

While 24% of white British applicants received a call back from UK employers, only 15% of ethnic minority applicants did.
Compared to White British applicants, people of:
  • Pakistani heritage had to make 70% more applications
  • Nigerian and South Asian heritage 80% more applications
  • Middle Eastern and north African heritage 90% more applications

But yeah employers only want the best talent.

Weird because 43% of footballers in the PL are non-white. So explain that one.

I would quite like someone like Stormzy to look at getting more minorities into refereeing at s young age. Support them when they get called names and encoursge them etc. Set something up to do that.

24% v 15%. So aka, most people don’t get a call back. That’s how applying for jobs in 2022 goes. For EVERYONE. Deal with it.

6% is closer to the national average in the general population in the UK. 43% is a massively skewed figure, I don't see anyone complaining about that and rightly so
One difference being players get there largely on merit because of scouting systems.
Managers and directors have more complex\ hidden selection criteria

If you think gb news, the mail, and the sun are more reliable a news source than bbc , channel 4, and the guardian, good for you.
I read the Times and the BBC mainly mate 👍🏻

Are you a bit racist?
Nope. We need more black referees. Criminally underrepresented atm.
